    I really hope they don't just raise the level cap to 110...

    Unless I've missed some official announce somewhere, I believe it's still unknown exactly what the plan is for post-100 leveling. I've thought about a bunch of possible routes they may or may not take, some simple, some not so simple, some just plain ridiculous...

    They seem to be in the mindset of adding hugely grindy tasks as of late, so part of me half expects them to, with 8.0 release, introduce some sort of "Prestige" mechanic where you down-level back to 50 and have to raise your job back up to 100 again under some "Legendary" or "Ultimate" title... bit of a nightmare to think about honestly

    Then I'm thinking ok, maybe something simpler like just adding a secondary level to each job, call it say "Assencion Level" that goes from 1-10 and this becomes the new level gauge that increases by 10 each release..

    All in all though, I just don't want them to go the lazy route and raise the level cap to 110 because .. well .. it's just an ugly number that doesn't feel like a "maximum" O.o

    I honestly would be very surprised if they went with something other than just raising the level cap to 110. I think they made some vague if not coy hints about what will happen to the level cap next expansion but I also remember Yoshi-P being coy about the level cap reaching 100.

    As an aside, one of the smaller reasons why I wish we had a proper Garlemald expansion or whatever between ShB and EW is so that EW would have ended at 100 to coincide with the end of the arc. Dawntrail just feels like a really weird point to end at 100, idk.

    Anything is possible at this point but my money is on either an increase to 110 or a level squish.

    They said they would discuss if they should do this in 8.0 in the run up to 7.0.

    One interview that was done recently, the interviewer read between the lines and took the answer to imply they would raise it to 110, unfortunately.

    Pretty much; no matter what it's called, any sort of alternate progression would really just be 101-110 by another name, which is why doubt they'll actually do it. Having it just be 101-110 is simple and unmistakeable, no confusion to be had regarding what it is or what it does. And the FF series level cap currently sits at 120 anyway so it's already in the cards.

    Well, I like to have a seperate levelsystem, which doesnt correspond to our Level 100.
    Additional it should be tied together our new adventure, which is also a second start for new players.

    We wouldnt take our scions with us. We travel alone to a new place or dimension, where we loose our power. New players can decide which Saga they gonna start. The whole experience with ARR or the new Saga, where you can reach endgame faster.

    Except that a LV101-110 comes with very expected results. Reconfiguring our substat formulas, an increase of 30 item levels over the leveling dungeons, an increase of 130 item levels over the course of the expansion, and a mix of 4-5 traits and skills in those 10 levels.

    With Ascension/Prestige or whatever have you levels they could experiment with a new approach. To begin with, they wouldn't need to reconfigure formulas if the level increase isn't calculated as putting us over LV100. That'd also mean our stats wouldn't necessarily increase with those levels. Without those increases they could experiment with horizontal gear progression and have those side levels merely offer traits or new skills.

    This game has its roots in FFXI which has various forms of side-levels with a level cap of 99 and even has a subjob system, which if they wanted, could take inspiration from. Side levels doesn't have to just be 101-110 by another name.
