Empyr is describing everything I felt was wrong with DT so well up there.

I really think DT was shredded by one of those consultant groups like what happened to Forspoken. There are so many concepts in here that just weren't explored or were resolved with "peace and happiness and the power of friendship."

Another great example of how weirdly afraid DT is of political turmoil is with the Yok Hoy. We have a race of insanely strong giants that ruled over all of the southern half of Tural that were only, very recently, brought down by horrific disease that wiped out most of their population and is causing all of the children born stunted and disabled.

They are now stuck with a tiny population just withering away on a cold and desolate mountain, one faction just holding on for dear life in the new world order while working under the current king to watch over a trapped monster, while another is openly hostile and angry at the tragedy that occurred to them, begging for any excuse to strike.

Furthermore, Tuliyollol is built upon a YOK HOY TEMPLE, welcoming and lived in by everyone BUT Yok Hoy. What happened there!?

But, the Yok Hoy of the past were violently oppressing other clans in Tural, and the story just moves on. And we just... Don't care.

It's extremely easy to infer that it's karmic retribution that the Yok Hoy are apparently dying out, which is a bit of an ugly detail to be left with post-Garlemald being all about humanizing and making peace with that race and aiding them in their lowest point in spite of everything.

BUT! The peoples traveling from far off regions and being riddled with foreign disease was a real life tragedy that most likely inspired that part of the Yok Hoy's lore. Sooo... Okay? Where was that story?

Is Yoshi-P's "agenda" in the room with us now?

The only main message is that Garlemand's imperialism is bad, and with Fascism and its aftermath on Eorzea is the common theme throughout ARR to EW, along with how each country reacted to it.

Also, I do admit that during the entire MSQ DT, it was a bit more simplistic, but then it ended on 7.3, and an odd part where we had to accept death comes for all of us repeated on every quest did get tiring.

That's exactly the friction point that should be explored more, even on individual villains.

We get to understand the reasons for Ascian actions, but it's different from actually living the struggle with them. We need to experience the sides more, rather than being told, especially the Scions, if they remain. I want to see them actually having disagreements. The whole fallacy of "Scions divided" for Dawntrail's premise... was such a fiasco.

IT IS.... it hits spot on with so many things... and even with insane accuracy...

But it is sad that people in real life, does not react, the way the Warrior of Light does, so it is likewise a big smack in he face as well and running harsh satire on current and past things in world.

If the writers and devs were skilled as they were back in HW back in SHB back in storm blood
less people would have these opinions.

where was the no politics crowd for EXP33

    or BG3

    or MGS?

    crickets

Square's current writers can't be trusted to give a mature story...
Smiles, Happiness, cartoon villains, tacos, said villain sudden redemption arcs and hopeful speeches, while atrocities like mamol eugenics people sacrificing each other to live the commodification of the human soul is going on in the background....
no the writers should stay away from topics they have no skill in flushing out.

I like a redemption arc, when it's well built and well thought of (reminds me of Fordola)... but I really think there are way to many "sudden" redemption arcs, especially in minor and side quests.

yeah bakol (or however it is spelled) releasing valegurmonda to slow us down and running off was just unjustifiable to me this monster not only terrorize the giants but it would also attack yaktel.... mamol babies would still be getting a raw deal but now it is dragon fire instead of stupid village people.

it pales in comparison to Gaius working for the empire for his children and having to endure knowing that the empire that he was loyal to is taking his loved ones ad forcing them to endure atrocities simply because of their race and his failure to defeat us. it was such a bleak story and square didn't voice it absolutely infuriating.

I've used the free login days to play some more of Endwalker and honestly, I've been so bored by the MSQ ever since Shadowbringer when they decided to handwave most political stuff with Garlemard to wisk away WoL in fantasy land and center everything about Ascians and their feelings rather than the war and their effects on people. For all its faults, Stormblood was actually great in this aspect. I don't care about magical radios.

I have no desire to sub again until they get back to the storytelling of ARR, HW and STB.

But also everything's kinda moot if they refuse to let time pass and actually deal with the consequences of what's happened. Better to leave for a new continent/dimension and forget all about it lol.

But I don't actually love or cherish these at all, so now what?
