Not going to lie, this actually made me a bit emotional!

I don't want to spill too much on here, but this whole thing has taken a lot out of me. I'm actually a very anxious person and I don't like sticking my neck out at all, but this means so much to me that I put my personal discomfort aside and fought for it anyway.

I don't feel like I can even look forward to my favourite character appearing in MSQ anymore, as it doesn't look like him, and it'll be more upsetting than anything. That's a really horrible feeling to have.

This should never have happened in the first place so it has been a very stressful experience overall and not something I ever wanted to have to do. Thank you so much for the kind words and support!

I feel the same way you do. Also generally not someone that likes to put myself out there, only made a petition about the Miqo'te Eyebrow issue because there was something so wrong that it really needed to be addressed.

We're passionate about getting the quality the game deserves, and clearly we're not alone!

I'm right there with you on being an anxious person, but I admire how you decided to do it anyways, and for keeping the conversation relevant for so long! I'm praying the bug report at least sheds some light on the issue.

The bug report has been moved to "Accepted Bugs"! Hopefully this means that there is hope for Thancred yet!

EDIT: Upon researching further I may have gotten ahead of myself, Accepted Bugs means that there was enough information in the report to warrant further investigation. Hopefully it will get put through to a fix rather than being moved to Working as Intended.

I had been on a break from the game and was unable to post here for a while, but I’ve reactivated my subscription for a month, so I wanted to write again for the first time in a while.

Has anyone here played the Chinese mobile version of FFXIV?
It seems like it’s been getting attention on the English forums too, but from what I’ve heard, it faithfully recreates the graphics and character designs from Patch 6.58 and earlier.

Several of my friends have already started playing the mobile version, and they shared screenshots and videos of Thancred with me — and honestly, “the Thancred I’ve adventured with all these years” was there.I cried. Really.

It looks like only the early parts of the story, up to A Realm Reborn, are currently playable in the mobile version, and it doesn’t include Dawntrail yet. But as someone who plays FFXIV purely because of Thancred, I found myself thinking… if I can’t see that Thancred again in the main PC/PlayStation version, maybe I’d rather just continue in the mobile version alone.
I really hope they release the mobile version globally and eventually make the full story, including the latest content, available.

Of course, I haven’t given up hope that that Thancred might return to the main game someday…
But I honestly can’t understand why it’s possible to recreate his old design in the mobile version, and not in the PC/PlayStation version — especially since the mobile version is officially overseen by Square Enix.Why is this the case?

I fully intend to try it once the English app is available and they have controller available. People on the forums are mostly iffy about it since we're playing a game that's pretty much one of the final games hanging on to old style monetization.

But everyone seems to agree that the Lightspeed team's done a better job upscaling the character graphics over the main FFXIV team. It's a bummer.

Yeah I don't want to put a damper on it, but Accepted Bugs can still easily move to Duplicate or Working As Intended (both of which happened to two of my previous bug reports). I'll be happy if they finally acknowledge the Thancred issue, but my cynical brain is expecting it to get dropped into one of those categories.

I doubt it'd get moved to Duplicate unless someone's already reported it as a bug (I don't think they have?) but yeah, it could possibly be moved to Working as Intended. I'd of course argue that it shouldn't as there's no way this should be the intended behaviour, but it could happen. I will try to keep my hopes up and keep the thread bumped so that it doesn't disappear!

Thank you! There hasn't been any word about this, no. At this point we're really keen to get some acknowledgement, especially after all the time that's been put in by the community to document the changes

Oh my gosh!!! I may have shed a couple of tears, I am so happy!! I'm so, so thrilled they're listening to us! Hopefully this means that he can be restored to his rightful self soon!
