For those complaining about the "modern glams" in Dawntrail

Remember that more than half of the expansion's premise is about Alexandria and Solution 9... So having stuff that's cohese with that setting is appropriate to say the least. Imagine being on Stormblood and tired of eastern-themed sets...

Plus, looking at the bigger picture, the "high fantasy" versus "modern" stuff released in Dawntrail, it seems quite balanced out.

My only complaint about them is that the majority of these outfits are tied to PVP, honestly. We're now at, what, 7 sets of 'modern casual'/'techwear' from PVP? If they were tied to maps like the Neon street set, or dungeons like the vanguard sets, I wouldn't really have any issue with them, besides the fact I vastly prefer the high fantasy style stuff. (Which I also think has been pretty bad so far, at least in my opinion.)

This will be most likely trophy crystal rewards again, so you can cap now and buy immediately after the patch releases.

As for the style, I really like it. There are many pieces I can use to make my character look like someone like Tifa, Rikku or Yuna.

Just by time investment though, they’re a lot easier to get from pvp than if they were made with rare drops from treasure maps, so I’m ok with that. They’re also all classes gear, which they wouldn’t be if they came from a dungeon.

But I’m with you on wanting more of a fantasy look.

I have to agree with you that most of the modern sets we have aren't really my thing lol.

Actually my favorites are usually when it goes somewhere steampunk rather than cyberpunk, but given the current situation, understandable that we get many of the latter.

I think that is the point, with Alexandria being from another world, way more advanced. I hope we do see the contrast explored in the future with Alexandrians actually venturing in Etheirys.

Final Fantasy as a whole (franchise) rarely has a title without a component, usually late game, being in an advanced setting.

I think my only issue with the modern glams is that they are not as bold as they could be? In my opinion, their take on modern glams are quite boring and safe. B-boy baggy pants and a fitted crop top. Groundbreaking. What about more rips and tears?? Dangling chains, spiked accessories, complicated deco'd nails, sleek high heels, big edgy earrings, patterned wrist warmers, arm bangles-idk idk. Kinda feel like it's a problem that's existed across all themed attires though, in XIV. They tend to get one idea for a look, and then do that exact same look 10 different times.

I think modern and fantasy can come together and look really really cool, but xiv so far isnt the best at translating that. Feel like they need a more creative team of minds behind their glam releases. The release of modern glams in this expansion though, is completely fair.

I don't hate modern glams in general, but I do think the hoodie-with-shorts they showed is pretty darn ugly. I know that's just my opinion. But I also rarely wear an entire glam, so look at them in terms of which pieces I might find a use for.
