Thanks ms 7th post. We really appreciate you reposting someone else's feedback.Lending my support since this post is getting overrun by really callous people. It isn’t hard to care about other people and their cultures and a lot of the responses in this thread showcase a really cruel defensiveness that I honestly would not want to encounter any of you in duty roulette.
I personally would not mind (as I’ve said in a post on the matter in the items section of the forums) if the patch got delayed so the team could, at the very least, swap out the conquistador inspired tabards and helmets for even just recolors of the Yuweyawata gear, as others have suggested. This expansion from its second act has been incredibly disheartening in how it has gone back on themes of the story and the team’s apparent game design philosophy. I think fans are owed an apology, specifically those belonging to the cultures the team said they were going to do better in representing.
I do not think this is unreasonable, even from a “money money money” business standpoint as the game stands to lose a lot of regular players and the free advertising that comes from passionate fans creating art and writing and theorycrafting. And please, PLEASE, remove the New World attire. At the very least.

Even if this did resemble conquistador attire, which it doesn't, the whole fucking world was conquered 50 times over 300 years ago. We didn't even have NATO or international war law. To the victor went the spoils. The entire history of the world was shaped by conquering. Get over yourselves and stop virtue signaling, especially by today's standards. This has personally effected NOBODY in the modern day.
It is literally the orange one, same brim and rear, as it don't have that curvature of Ponce de Leon's helmet as you showed; but rather adheres to the helmet I've shown. I believe they based it on a few nations, to get the result they liked. So a dragoon's helmet. (Not the FFXIV one, but the irl role.)

Except its european armor that comes from beating up a fictional european civilization. It does not come from beating up a mesoamerican civilization.
Like the way you and these brigadiers act is as if a whole dungeon was implemented where the warrior of light is awarded conquistador armor while slaughtering mesoamericans.
I know a bad actor when I see one. What did you in xiv today, OP? This week?
I'll add my voice to say this gear is harmless. The drip just looks cool. I'm sure nobody complained about the not-SS outfits we got in the past. Or if Square even cared about 'backlash' then. Go get em' I guess?

Where did all these single post people come from? At first I thought it was some elaborate troll by one person talking to themselves. It just feels so troll like.

As a half Peruvian, 1/4 Mohawk (it’s a long story) having been born and raised in Peru, I would say that it’s essentially white Europeans/Americans taking offence. Listening to them, people in Latam should be offended at a lot of ceremonial uniforms and at their own traditional dances attire too…If the vast majority of LATAM & Native people are expressing their disdain with this new set then there's a reason they're doing that. Designing a gearset after those who colonized and violated the peoples this expansion is inspired by is in extremely bad taste and not a good look. Just give us reskinned gear.
