Also, yes we deserve better event quests when the game is holding SE alive

bad f2p p2w MMOs are out here giving out maid uniforms for free during events, meanwhile SE looks you straight in the eye and asks for your entire ass wallet
Midcore is when you take a look at an Ultimate, nod along sagely to a guide and decide to do it when you get 12 months of uninterrupted vacation, which is to say: never.
Because they can only sustain themselves by going hard with events and also deck out their cash shop with a lot of things to keep interesting going.
And that's all they got, really. Hence F2P MMO's never get much sustain and many fade away over time.
I guess? Not to make myself incredibly identifiable, but there's a certain MMO that's been around since 2008 and it's still kicking. However, it is unplayable after Level 99 to most F2Pers. The freebies are pretty good tho. Imho the sub money should be enough, basically.

I assume you meant elsword, since you mentioned the maid outfit and level 99I guess? But if thats the case, yeah i found myself more enticed to open Elsword during the maid event than to do my dailies in 14
The most embarassing thing is that they keep releasing new gear and actively decide to exclude Viera and Hrothgar from hat usage
Fuck free to play MMOs, you end up not being able to participate in the endgame unless you put in 12 hours a day or spend your paycheck on them. Pay to play are cheaper and it historically has kept devs accountable because they need to earn your subscription. F2P just needs a few whales to keep the whole game going. Square enix is testing this out, though.I guess? Not to make myself incredibly identifiable, but there's a certain MMO that's been around since 2008 and it's still kicking. I think they are fine. I would hate to see something like WoW events be added to FF14 where you will never get the items due to RNG or it takes the entire 3 some weeks of logging in every day to get the item by the end of the event. If you miss a day you're screwed.
These events are also designed for level 15+ players. If you're highest level is only 15 then you're greatly limited in where you can travel to do the events.
I honestly completely forgot to finish an event quest this year because it was so unremarkable.
A nice middle ground wouldn't be too bad. not as rng or grind reliant as wow but more engaging compared to the current 2-3 quick quests. like you mentioned with the mini duties, perhaps something like a short chain for the basic reward and a special mini duty or fate that rewards a currency for old rewards that you can grind for or even have a direct rng chance at getting. so you can still buy it off the shop if you really want but there's also the option to participate with some open world things to get some special rewards or other items (like ventures, glam prisms, bags of random materials, glam items from other sources, that kinda thing)
more encouragement to engage with the seasonal events after finishing the short quest chain while also not making the main rewards too lengthy for people with shorter play time windows
