The update is great. Now everyone can have whatever size house they want. I do not care about any lore justifications for how it works or lack thereof.
The next issue they should tackle is all the one man FCs gobbling up plots and people who own entire wards. There's one person on Hyperion who owns almost an entire Empyreum ward, it's insane.
But do you care about house accessibility, or not really? You aware that this update is going to screw the lives of people without houses even more? The update is great. Now everyone can have whatever size house they want. I do not care about any lore justifications for how it works or lack thereof.

The update is a big plus for people who die for large and medium interior sizes. They aren't going to make larges available for everyone but this essentially gives them the interior of that house. Availability is another issue. Apartments also need a major upscale and upgrade that would make lots happy who don't necessarily care about gardens.
No need to play dumb, 40+ people on every lottery explains perfectly that housing is a greatly desired feature by MANY players. But the current system makes it next to impossible to obtain a house. I mean, yeah, small houses in Goblet are still popping up now and then even on populated servers. Now, think about what will happen when we are finally able to turn small houses into larges, interior wise? You're right, ALL houses will be instantly swooped over, there will be 200+ lottery entrants on every house, everywhere.
Which is... exactly the point of my message. Why would they focus on adding more things for house owners, when getting a house in general in FF14 is incredibly convoluted and freaking luck dependant? And why would they want to make the situation even WORSE by introducing the update which will force the house hoarders to scoop up every last small house in existence? The update is a big plus for people who die for large and medium interior sizes. Until getting a house becomes a reasonable venture, any housing "update" is irrelevant.

They aren't mutually exclusive although it appears that is what you would like it to be. There are many of us with a house that would like having one more rewarding. You can request more housing and a better system but stopping any improvements until you're happy isn't going to happen. No need to play dumb, 40+ people on every lottery explains perfectly that housing is a greatly desired feature by MANY players. I guess you have no ability to access housing. If they were only a easy way to get a housing unit that didn't require me to access the lottery.... if only they had something like an apartment...No need to play dumb, 40+ people on every lottery explains perfectly that housing is a greatly desired feature by MANY players. Wait those don't exist.
When players asked for the lottery system, they thought that it was going to be the same amount of players who were going to participate while they asked for the barrier of entry to be lowered?
The system is more fair than it's ever been. However your odds of winning one drastically dropped because players asked for increased accessibility.
If you're worried about the amount of bids going on a plot after the change then you should have been early rather than be nitpicky. A limited system like this. You can't afford to be picky. Get what you can and then work your way to what you want.
As you can see in my sig I do work on my own apartments. There's nothing wrong with them.People just feel too good for them. But if there is nothing wrong with them

I think it'll be nice for those who don't care much about the exterior, or like their location a lot and don't want to move every time they wanna decorate a different house size. I do wish they'd separate the item limit from it, otherwise you'd have two things happening:
- Either the item limit is locked to your original plot's size, thus making that changing your layout/interior size is not a good idea unless you're downsizing from a Large,
- Everyone would simply upgrade to a large and block off space as needed in order to get the maximum amount of slots, thus killing most of the layout variety you'd find in player housing.
I don't like either of these, personally...
And I'd much prefer if they applied the layout upgrades to apartments and FC rooms first, too. It's really annoying that we can't even change the district pillars in apartments. It's not like we're renting and our landlord doesn't let us paint the walls lol I genuinely don't understand why they did let apartments swap district pillars + make a minimalistic white layout version, even if I think the white, texture-less walls are ugly. Let players have more stuff to play with and maybe they would actually bother furnishing their apartments instead of using them as a cheaper Kugane teleport point xD
It's not that hard to get a house these days and if you think your life is screwed by not having virtual real estate you need to take an extended break from the game.
