Difficult experience in Forked Tower – a reminder to respect public content

Hello everyone,

I’d like to share an experience I recently had in the Forked Tower instance, to raise awareness of behaviors that we hope are rare exceptions.

A friend and I joined the public queue to discover the raid, with no intention of disrupting anyone. The mood was light-hearted, and we were genuinely enjoying the experience.
We successfully cleared the initial corridors and the first boss — yay!

Unfortunately, even before entering the instance, some players started insulting us in chat, pointing at us with emotes, and warning us that they would let us die — simply because we weren’t part of their private raid group.



And indeed, during the second boss, I was intentionally killed by a tank who moved into me during the tank buster.
We waited just in case someone would raise us after the boss, but at the end, players simply ignored us and even jumped on our corpses.

The issue with these groups — in our case, apparently led by a streamer named Rinon Inanna — is that they regularly attempt to monopolize public instances, rejecting or harassing anyone who isn’t part of their community.

Let me be clear: we’re not here to stir up drama or start fights.
This post is not meant to spread hate, but rather to encourage respect for public content — which is open to everyone.

Forked Tower was designed to be shared and cooperative.
No community — even a well-organized one — should try to privatize it or push out other players who join through Square Enix’s official matchmaking system like anyone else.

You shouldn’t have been assassinated or laughed at or whatever

But they aren’t wrong. They aren’t “monopolising” content. With the design of forked you essentially are dead weight here and getting in the way of what they likely organised as tight groups that had the necessary jobs. The idea of monopolising seems to imply that if they weren’t blocking you out then other people would get to join, but it’s not that way, it’s either they try to organise it themselves or nobody does it; because it isn’t puggable

Like they were rude but they weren’t wrong. Plus if they are a static they want to queue together, they don’t want to initiate randoms, that isn’t wrong either

Two things:

1) You should redact out the names in your text and screenshot - listing player names is usually not accecpted on gaming forums.

2) That a company with 10+ years of experience in MMO design creates content that fosters such player behaviour is... well... I honestly don't know what to say. Is CBU3 run by interns these days?

I find it funny how the premade was apparently so rude but OP chose to include the screenshot of them asking nicely instead.

1. By all accounts I've read here, it's not possible for "random players" to enter and actually clear together. It requires an organized group to be successful. This is why "private" parties are "monopolizing" it. There is literally no other way to clear it.

2. You said you don't intend to stir up drama or start fights, but it looks like this is exactly what you are attempting to do with this very post.

3. They should not try to kill you, because it's rude. However, there are apparently lots of mechanics which, if not coordinated by an organized group, a single individual doing their own thing can wipe everyone else, causing them to fail. In this way, the "random player that entered" has caused every other player to fail because they didn't join the discord group. They can prevent this happening by killing the player, apparently.

4. The actual comments they made to you before you entered looked like they were attempting to politely explain all this to you, whilst also being blunt and telling you the truth.

5. The person you quoted agreed it is open to everyone, and that it is fine if you join, but that you would be left on the floor because they can't rely on a random player that might not be as progressed as they are and hasn't planned their role in the raid. They just politely said they'd appreciate if you didn't because it deprived another individual who planned to come along from participating, and that individual might have a key role in the raid.

6. They should not jump on bodies, since that is rude. Most likely, the raid organizers cannot control the actions of every single player, since there are so many players. Although it's possible the place that organized the raid has a reporting procedure (usually this is a discord server) where they may warn or ban the individual for treating others poorly like that.

7. Naming players or posting screenshots without names redacted/crossed out is against the forum rules. I recommend you replace it with one that has the names blocked out via MS Paint.

No, you literally had it coming. People look at guides, do spreadsheets and prepare vigprously to ensure that the runs go smoothly. People do their best to join a party and if you join like that, after being POLITELY TOLD NOT TO, deliberately kicking out two people who cooperated and prepared with other players...

Then yeah, you deserve it. They shouldn't have tankbustered you, yes, but boss 2 can easily wipe a party in the mid to late parts. You were a liability for refusing to cooperate, refusing to prepare and robbing two people of their well-deserved opportunity.

"but they don't own tower". You're two peopöe. You can join a new instance and are free to try and recruit that instance into "random queuing" for tower. Oh, that doesn't work? Yeah, I figured. How about actually cooperating by signing up for runs/FFA joining in PF like any other non-disruptive individual?

14 has never had a social environment, hell people on here praise the removal of MMO design aspects every time

We have a “good community” because you can’t tell a cure 1 spammer to stop spamming cure 1 so we all pretend to be cute in game

No you are not.
Running into someone with a tank buster is not only rude but a dick move.
Not raising someone might be the “correct” (I think I’m gonna throw up) choice there but is going counter to all that this community once was known for and actually shows in other content, namely helping randoms if they want to clear content.
Maybe we are too naive here but whatever.

SE has truly managed to bring the old MMO feeling back with all the crappy behavior. Truly makes me feel young again.
And people say they don’t innovate…
