New Sever or More housing

New servers are not the solution, I have been trying (and still currently), to get a house in Exodus, for my main char there, but it's impossible, since I do RP there and to hang out with the people I know from there, currently I'm trying to get a medium size plot so I can place 2 retainers to gpose only (to FFXIII characters), I could opt for a small one, but if the house expansion size does not arrive, or it arrives without the possibility to expand the retainers outside...

I had on mind to move my char to Dynamis, but, if I do that, what's next? I mean, to do content I need to move since the roulettes are not cross-datacenter, and also needed to leave the FC of where I am, is not a solution, there a lot of cons by doing that, and not a solution.

Again, I'd like to see them "bite the bullet" and give us a new neighborhood/ward design, with all plots the size current large house plots are. You buy your plot, then can choose which size house you buy a permit to build (and can up or downgrade for more money). That would help get rid of the "so many fighting for a large or medium, and smalls staying empty" in a number of worlds.

Also, these need to be new wards added to current worlds, especially on ones where even all the smalls are taken. With a new neighborhood design, they could have a bit fewer plots in each, but more neighborhoods altogether. We do NOT need more servers! There's currently multiple problems on low-population DCs like Dynamis with things like queues, with smalls plots still empty, with "need lots of participants" things like the Cosmic Exploration Build Fates failing, etc.

More wards is the answer, but also, I think a new DESIGN for wards that's more versatile and allows anyone to get whatever size house they can afford, rather than the current limits of maybe 3 large and 3 medium per ward. And if there were say, 20 houses per ward in the new design (instead of the current 30 per neighborhood), that ought to help with server load FOR each new ward... and just do *more* of these smaller wards, instead of putting in a bunch where smalls end up standing empty as plots.

While I’d still prefer an outright instanced plot system, if they continue to keep just throwing more wards at the problem of limited supply, then what you’ve laid out here is something they need to do. All yards the same size, so any size house can be put on it. Upsize or downsize at any time with a permit. And with the interior size upgrade they’re working on, you could have any size inside with any size exterior for lots of customization.

I seriously doubt they’d go back and redesign any of the existing districts for this, but any new districts should be set up this way moving forward.

Add like 10 Large House only wards with double or triple the price and they would still all instantly sell out.

The furniture limit increase was said to be 7.2 or 7.3, so I expect if anything they’ll add more wards then. However, considering that they didn’t mention anything about it during the most recent live letter, my guess is that they might be sussing out the housing situation with WoW and trying to decide how they can rework the system to compete with that. At least, that’s what I think they’d do if they wanted to be smart about it.

I haven’t touched Cosmic Exploration so I have no idea what any of that could be building towards but instanced housing from there would be nice otherwise I don’t quite understand the point.

There would almost certainly be an announcement ahead of time if they were planning to add new wards, and so far they haven’t said that’s in the works. I think the existing UI could accommodate about 6 more per subdivision, but when they did that last time, they talked about it a lot and it wasn’t a surprise. New housing districts especially usually get mentioned in the promotion of a new expansion with a timeline/estimate of when they’ll be added. We knew Empyreum was coming well ahead of the expansion release, so I doubt we’ll be getting a new district for Dawntrail either.

I’d love Cosmic to end with an instanced housing plot, but I’m not getting my hopes up… a lot of us thought we’d get that with the Island at first too.

I also doubt they'd redesign existing neighborhoods, but yes, if they'd just do a whole NEW design for neighborhoods incorporating what I'm talking about, they could add them as "So ________ city has added a new neighborhood for adventurers," and just have it be (story-wise) as a "different location" than the current ones.

And then, add them as new wards, maybe with only 20 houses per neighborhood (per part, maybe with 3 parts instead of 2), because doing fewer houses per ought to help with the load a bit, right?

Sigh---I really would love to see them do this, because if nothing else, it would eliminate the issue seen in places of "LG/MED go super fast, and then SM stand empty for a long time." And it would give access to larger housing to far more who *want* the larger housing.

I don't agree with more servers. This will further dilute the population, which is never a good thing. The easier thing would be that every time a new "expansion" (read as DLC) drops, a new instance housing should also be released.

ARR had 3, which is understandable, HW has 1, and SB has 1. Where are SHB, EW, and DT?
