First follower dungeons, now housing. Holy shit.
Dude Follower Dungeons absolutely dunks on Trusts. It's not even fair. It's like a massacre.

They have better AI. They can be told to be aggressive or passive. You can play with friends up until you only have 1 bot. They use optimized routes. They will tell you what direction to go into if you idle too long, letting you know what path is the correct one.

Trusts are embarrassing in comparison, honestly.

One gives them money, the other is being "nice" to the community, I'll let you guess which one any company would pick.

You mean the option that's about to be massively stepped on by a major competitor? Sure, up until now they had free reign since the only real threat to subs is WoW and they had no interest in housing. Now they are moving in on that scene and while I don't expect Blizz to magically get it all right in one go; they have a dedicated team specifically for it. So chances are they will eventually outshine XIV in its own court. It'll come down to aesthetics as I know some people clearly cannot handle WoW's art style and I can respect that part.

As far as housing vs housing though, between smaller games like GW2 refining their new system, and now WoW throwing their lot in with a lot more money to back it, that sub hostage trick isn't gonna hold much water soon.

But yes, agree to disagree lol...

I hope so. I don't play WoW but it looks like the "exodus" worked out pretty well from what folks are saying.

People want housing so much because its a limited resource, instanced would be for everyone, a lot people wont care about it because of that, it wont take much pressure off of ward housing because as I said, not only is it hard to get, but it's also simply superior to instanced housing because its public.

That's very false, the bids would be the exact same or close to the same because of what I mentioned above, ward housing is unique, instanced wouldnt be since everyone would have it.

/shrug, housing should be available to everyone, as I said at the very least to have a small house, with the new system coming later this year, people will be able to use medium and large interiors which makes them just as good as bigger plots.

    Goodwill doesnt get SE money.
It seems to me you are unaware of the potential power of instanced housing, where you can have far more power and locations than you can with ours. We are limited by our system. Even systems like Wildstar show the way to have multiple people and power.

Truely, imo, neighborhood system is just the lazy method for MMOs to do it (because they can group stuff together). They hide behind "but it's social" but it's just the "I can't be bothered to go full effort". As the systems that are instanced regularly demonstrate they too are socialable.

It's not an either or situation here. They could keep the ward system as is, and alongside that just expand what instanced apartments can do: Give apartments customizable floor plans/upgrades and a balcony and we have the best of both worlds. Those who want their neighborhoods could still have them, and those who want a very customizable private instanced space could have that as well. They could even make it a big gil sink since we don't seem to have many. Basic apartment could stay as is in price, giant penthouse very expensive.

also with instanced housing for everyone would make so much money from the mogstation from housing items that get put into it. i mean one of the most popular housing items is a 5$ tree on mogstation.

people like to say they se would never give personal housing because of subs from people who feel they are forced to stay subbed but the mogstation will always blow subs away in money department.

I don't know for sure but I have to imagine that this would be the case, both in good will generated vs the prisoner analogy we make currently and also in the concept that everyone has a house now. Also can make houses matter more since everyone has one, further encouraging the use and therefore the cosmetic desires.

Like in Wildstar the houses had actual features, but this was fine because everyone could have one.

With how horrible the storytelling in Dawntrail turned out to be, housing and savage raids are the last two pillars that keep me hooked into the game.
If WoW housing ends up being good, I'll leave and just come back every two major patches to do the raids for a couple of weeks.
