The way I see it, if it's used by an MSQ or story character, then they don't want you to be able to use it since it keeps those MSQ characters unique. But they are willing to let you anyway if you pay them.

That's pretty much the reason I wasn't expecting it anywhere but the Mogstation. I don't think we have anything that we've gotten that was used by an NPC that wasn't Mogstation, have we? It's not really unique when everyone buys it and see you see it everywhere, but like you said, they at least will allow that if players pay them. And eventually players find a new shiny so you don't see it used as much. Even I've moved on from using the Lyse hairstyle and I wanted that for years.

Cash shops are a thing. You can deny it, but that's the reality in live service games. And they are a LOT less invasive and have a lot less in them in this game than in other live service or MMO games. I was commenting to Jeeq that the general trend we've seen seems to be that anything NPC related does go to the Mogstation. That doesn't mean we don't get things in game. We just got a hairstyle with Chaotic. We just got an emote with the Valentione's event. They're going to put some stuff in the cash shop. It's just the nature of genre. We can decide if we think it's worth it or not. I don't buy from it often because I don't think it's worth it. I don't begrudge those who do.

The way I see it, if it's used by an MSQ or story character, then the work has already been done by the developers and I literally already have the files installed on my computer - so asking me to buy something that I already own is insane.
