Her "adventure" was attending the funeral of someone she had somewhat of a connection to, and the fact she and the warrior of light was the direct cause of her death makes sense she would be there because of both Sphene's dying wish and the fact Gulool Ja, a toddler, is in control of everything

The head of reason and resolve is no longer restricted to being in one place due to not being a singular entity, which is something the two characters have an advantage over when it comes to Gulool Ja Ja
I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a counter argument because outside of Sphene 2.0, theres literally nothing threatening Tural at this point FOR her to be there for I guess, lol.

You could argue that outside of her being in the dungeon for trust reasons, she just had a little adventure with us to the dangerous research facility thing. And if the fact that there are 2 individual Vows now ment anything, they BOTH wouldn't be hanging out with us and the Rroneek. Koanas really the only one with a reason to stay behind to tend to ish since he has more of a non combative role I suppose

Wuk Lamat is currently undergoing what I have dubbed "The Lyse effect". Lyse, another polarizing character that MANY here voiced their opinions of and were exhausted after so many "Talk to Lyse again" quests. A lot of people really did not like the Stormblood story at first in similar fashion to the current Dawntrail story. Pacing issues was one of the big reasons as to why, just like now. So because it seems like this again, that means the following expansion is going to be very good with a hopeful tragic character that everyone's going to simp for. We work in cycles here.

Wasnt there on launch, but I can imagine its the same thing that happened with Endwalker as well. Where they just need to zoom us all over the map (except that cloudy region of Ilsabard ffs).
Bakool Ja Ja is just Fordola done badly. I bet they are gonna find a similar grounding character for him like.. Arenwald?
As rushed as Endwalker and Stormblood were. They had nuance in the storytelling and actual writing.

Did anyone ever have any doubt that Wuk Lamat wasnt gonna be Dawnservant? I mean cmon. Her opponents were a warmongerer, a simp of a brother and a cartoon villain.

They didnt even have the balls to pair up Zoraal and Wuk or Bakool and Wuk for the cooking scene. The writing was juvenile, safe and cowardly.

So many Negative Nancies here. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how our heroes tackle the problems of irreconcilable cultural differences and the amorphous faceless governing body of a neighboring nation.

I don't know how people haven't figured out after 10 years that the Warrior of Light is neither the main character of FFXIV nor a particularly important one. You are a narrative device, dragged around by the main characters (the Scions, specifically the Leveilleur twins) to bear witness to the political dramas that unfold around them. You're also frequently brought out as a weapon when the solution to one of the Scions' problems is violence (this justifies occasional gameplay breaking up the storytelling).

Yes, even as far back as the beginning of ARR, there's been something "special" about the WoL, but it's a side-story at best. As another commenter pointed out, the game is really about the Scions installing (hopefully) stable leaders in unstable nations. Dawntrail was the next iteration of this. Its pacing was no better or worse than any of the other expansions, excepting Shadowbringers, the only FFXIV expansion that was (mostly) paced extremely well.

I think Wuk Lamat would get way less hate if she had featured less prominently in the second half of Dawntrail. I thought she was quite endearing in the first half of the expansion, and enjoyed her path to Dawnservant. She should've stayed in Tuliyollal while the Scions went to deal with the very Scion problems of Alexandria and Sphene. As it was, she was shoehorned into being the main character, still, despite being in way over her head, which just made that entire plot line worse than it would've been otherwise (and it would've been way too rushed either way).

I don't get it why there is so much drama about Wuk Lamat. I found her annoying at first but after playing the MSQ, she is fine as she is.

    I mean
    [SPOILER/SPECULATION]
despite doing what they had done, Gulool Ja, bastard son of Zoraal Ja, is technically still the heir and Wuk and Koana are still his family. Come to think of it, he would also have a claim to the throne of Tural. Though he is still too young to make important decisions so whatshisface is likely doing that for him, making him the current regent.
Since for the sake of diplomacy and because Sphene was, despite everything, beloved by the people, the first act was to hold a funeral for Sphene. Because it was an effort to better relations and because Sphene and Zoraal Ja forced their hand.
Alas, someone, either Evil/Imposter!Sphene tampered with the regulators or the regent himself, in an effort to get rid of the heir, and resume the plan.

Coming back to DM NPCs, some people also seem to struggle with NPCs lying straight to their face.

    In short:
Like in Heavensward not everything is Sunshine and Rainbows immediately after the Big Bad(s) is (are) deafeated.

    [EDIT]
Sorry for the word salad and the typos.

Dawntrail is what I imagine the entire MSQ as a healer-main.

They were probably fooled after saving several dozen tribes/cities/the world/universe a few times and never being able to take a break because Lord knows nobody else could do it. Suddenly you're thrust into a story where you're just going "... why am I even here, again?"

Right, but you only do this as a weapon. The WoL is practically uninvolved in the actual story of the game.
