Sorry but it is, I have not seen such a bad msq quality drop, and no, this is not because of wuk lamat.

And many defend arguing " is that it is a new story" yes but as new. story I don't want to wait 2 years or 4 years for it to get interesting, they are very slow to develop the plot.
ARR I made a very good introduction because from level 10 you are already being introduced to the villains and your role in the story, in dawntrail it feels like you are the babysitter of wuk and I understand the frustration in that.

This was by far the worst expansion of all. Was so bad after the first few cutscenes I just started skipping them all. They should end this expansion and start a whole new one.

People thought the WoD arc of heavensward was shitty filler content. People hated Lyse in stormblood.

Part of previous expansions enjoyment came from knowing other people were out there enjoying the same good story, it flowed around the community of the game. But now with DT, a player knowing the MSQ sucks ambiently knows it sucks for everyone else going through it too. It's a strange one because on paper, the bullet-point basics of going here-there, doing this-that and the things happening around it are mostly fine, it's just the way it was made and delivered that was very poor. Every Shadowbringers cutscene is rewatchable, whereas DT only has a handful that are any good. There was a great legacy factor building for the scions as an IP, but this game is pretty much having a 'season 8 moment' and people may very well not care for the scion characters in future because it will remind them of what was once a great game before it got absolutely ruined, a lot of people will want to move on and block this game out of their memory.

I can understand how the devs may think that they haven't changed their approach to the story, that there's always been some corny lets-all-hold-hands-and-save-the-world moments going on, but there is such a thing as 'earning' those moments, and that was done in previous expansions through hard work done by good strong intelligent characters that were almost always likeable. DT brought in a sucky NPC character and tried to have us speedrun and carry them on a clear to get a main character's title, which just doesn't work.

I'm not here to argue, but I didn't think DT was that horrendously bad.
I do think the game as a whole has a lengthy list of underlying issues that seemingly get swept under the rug by SE, though.

Am I still playing the game? Yes.
Will I still play the game? Yes, probably. [I sub a few times a year, due to worklife etc]
Maybe I'm part of the problem, where they can push lackluster content and I'll blindly purchase it without a second thought, because they know there are always going to be people like me down the line.

Edit: I do want to add that I'm hardly a harsh critic. I watch movies and play games to enjoy them for what they are. I understand that other people have different opinions, and I accept that.

You're right but I can't ever see them rewriting it. Even if they did the damage is already done, the majority of the dedicated playerbase has already finished and felt the impact of it. Rewriting DT wouldn't do much to help them. I'm not even sure how they could salvage it to be honest.

I'm actually replaying the 7.0 MSQ right now, and so far I haven't found a single thing that's going to cause me to QUIT the game over it just like the first time I played through it and actually enjoyed it. Wuk Lamat really reminds me of the imaginations I had as a child, and maybe that's why I find her so endearing while others loathe her. Understandably, she is more like a child having lived a very sheltered life. She realizes that she doesn't know her people at all and constantly has to look at other people for advice. But the moment she needs a little push, we are right there behind her. Koana being her co-ruler is definitely going to help her a lot. She needs someone with a cooler head to balance her out as she can't rely on our WoL forever.
