most races look great but every time i look at my saved portraits i cant help but feel its just a total downgrade
it just looks uncanny and weird to me
i get that its personal preference and some may like it but everything i loved about my character is gone
the eyes and lips look odd in nearly every animation
face 3 used to come with a baked in matte lipstick that is now just the same shiny color as any other
idk i guess im just ranting to no one knowing its not going to be changed/fixed
i am sad

i keep hoping ill get used to it or something
but man its just really bad
i still get sad looking at her

The changes have impacted npc characters too. Cirina is a significant Stormblood character and no longer looks like herself at all, effectively replaced by an impostor. And Sadu aswell is not quite right.

The Au Ra faces are definitely the worst hit. The mouths look terrible. My WoL (Fem Au Ra face 4) has completely lost her impression.

I'm still mourning the loss of my face 2 femra and my face 4 fem miqo...

It's just not the same or 'similar', femra specifically...

I am mostly ok with my f miqo but the eyes are too narrow when smiling. The upper eye lids need to be higher so it’s a gentle smile and not a scheming smile.

I understand why they overhauled them, a lot more bones in the faces to be more expressive but they did not have enough QA to properly migrate the old faces.

I feel your pain. I unironically wish they'd never done a graphical update at all. I never had an issue with how the game looked before. Was it a little goofy looking sometimes due to the more low-rez graphics? Sure, but that was part of its charm.

Now there's no charm. Just this weird, uncanny, artificial sheen over every character's face that makes it look like their souls have been sucked out.

I'm happy for now that they adjusted the philtrum on Femroe face 2, after a year of them not doing anything it's given me a little relief for now, but yeah, I'm not at the point where I'll want to gpose like I use to. I hope they'll keep going through these threads and take everyone's complaints into account, and for GODS SAKE give us more options. That should have been done before they ever considered changing the models to such an extreme, this whole graphics "update" feels like it was so haphazardly thrown together, and now it feels like they'll be working on fixing their mess ups until 8.0 and by then they'll have lost so much good will from folks.
