I find their follower dungeons very boring actually
delves are really fun, but wow's normal dungeons are somehow even less brain power require than ff14.
I don't have faith they'll make housing fun personally. looking back at garrisons, and how much monetization blizzard is stuffing in. 50 dollars for a roof lets go
I play both games atm mind you so i don't have a dog in the race of tribalism.

Garrisons has an issue but I have a hard time taking the comment they didn't have many interesting or at least layered contents. Garrisons was not housing, we shouldn't compare it to that. Garrisons was island sanctuary.

The biggest issue with garrisons outside of the early day bugs, was that they made it a requirement for end game progression, made systems that forced you to babysit (due to short mission timers), and produced gold in an alt abusive way. Reduced end game gear, made it account wide, reduce having to return and sit at the table, and add a teleport back to location on hearthstone like druid and death knight have and I bet the damage would have been cut in 1/2 if not more.

But in terms of content, it had unique quests over multiple different styles, many layers of interesting benefits and rewards.

I was waiting for someone to bring up WoW being "So much worse" about monetization. I got rather bored and compared both stores after seeing a claim about 14 being far more expensive and yeah that wasn't a lie at all. Here is a breakdown by section and I am assuming you own the game if you are looking at these and even if I didn't 14 would still be losing heavily. Now of course this is a simple number to numbers comparison and you realistically will not be buying the whole store for each game of even be buy an entire section like fantasia for example or every character service and token in WoW.

    WoW Shop

    Charity- $20
    Bundels-$54.99
    Mounts-$730
    Pets-$170
    Toys-$30
    Transmog-$158
    Character services-$199.99
    ----Total- $1362.98

    FF14 Shop

    Fantasia- $83
    Character services- $28
    Bundles- $9.99
    Costume sets- $1478
    Mounts-$870.95
    Emotes-$272.50
    Dyes- $170
    Weapons- $110
    Tools- $3
    Armor-$292
    Accessories- $60
    Minions- $232.91
    Chocobo-barding- $99
    Music- $280
    Housing- $1037.50
    Face paint- $7
    Fashion accessories- $3

    -----Total-$5036.85

That $90 brontosaur while overly expensive in pricing isn't even close to the death of a million small micro-tranactions ff14 is. You are free to correct my numbers as well as I admit I am human and may have entered something wrong. I am by no means trying to paint WoW as being better but I wanted realistic data of the stores for comparison.

I could have but given those items are not part of the FFXIV store I didn't feel the need to include them, that would require going to the Square Enix store at that point which is a whole new can of worms comparison wise with the Blizzard Gear store.

Yeah but that $90 Brontosaur mount, which comes with a vendor and access to the auction house while mounted, used to be a thing that only costed 6 million gold in-game originally and was available to everyone to buy it at any time. Then they decided to make it severely limited so that only by buying it from the black market npc, if it showed up at all at that time, could you buy it with in-game gold. However on the black market, people would it often it bid up to gold cap, aka 10 million gold. And then we get to the shop where they sell a solution to you, for $90 you can have the mount instead of using the black market, a solution from a problem they created.

This sets a precendent that Blizzard can put any mount on the shop if they wanted to that was originally available through in-game means. Where has FFXIV done that?

Except it doesn't because it's not the same longboi now is it? How many invincibles, scarab lord, Anu'relos etc do you see in the store? And u can literally still go buy the mount from black market. The 90 buck store mount is infact, cheaper than the old one if u were to compare the price in WoW tokens. Not that I really care because I don't own either and never will because mounts for me are whatever.

And what makes you think they won't sell an invincible or a scarab lord on the shop?

Oh look different day, same shit from Blizzard. They sell you time savers. In this case avoiding have to deal with the rng of the black market and of having to bid with other players.

I mean it's just a mount that u don't even need so it's crazy to me that people are losing their mind over it. Is portable AH nice? sure. Is it required? lol no. And if one person in a group has the mount thats enough to use it if u need it but realistically this is mostly just useful for gold goblins. What is Invincible again? Basically a reskinned horse but its not like Invincible's worth suddenly got downgraded because of that or the fact it's a generic flying mount like every other mount in the game and u can still acquire it by doing LK.

And they won't sell either of those because they are prestigious mounts, especially scarab lord and they wouldve done it already if they planned on it. They are not comparable to a longboi which was not a special mount other than the pricetag and utility it offered.
