Why is it so hard to give us back the characters we knew and loved? You know, the characters that were already in the game for a decade? Time and time again droves of feedback pour in detailing exactly what people want from the very first benchmark- and guess what? It's for our characters to look the same as they always did, because why would anyone on Earth want anything else? How is it this difficult? Are all the terrible changes really to "spec"? Square has completely gutted Au Ra faces. It is practically an insult at this point. It borders on parody just how poorly this was done.

I've got to say I'm happy to see the Face 4 Au Ra changes. Obviously it was never going to be the same as 6.5, but the few minor adjustments they made have done a lot to restore some of that old impression. Most visible are the reductions to the philtrum and eyebags. I also appreciate the fixes to some of the weird lighting issues.

The limbal ring changes are so weird that I almost feel like they're bugged. The brighter rings now take up almost all the iris, with the large pupils taking up the rest. It's decidedly odd.

To be honest, I didn't pay attention to the eyes. I am aware that the face can no longer be the same as 6.5. However, the shape of the mouth and the glossy lips are a big difference to the 6.5 face, which changes the entire impression of the character. I think with some adjustments to the mouth shape and matte lips it is possible to restore a lot of it.

From what I've seen of other's characters in this thread YES everyone with dark skin still looks like they've been dipped in oil. It seems less pronounced on my main who has a medium complexion, but everyone that is darker still looks very shiny, I've not checked on my alt yet but from the comparisons I've see here, I'm not too hopeful.

Did a quick pass though most of the ARR zones, and La Nocea, and Thanalan are the glowup winners. Changes to Black Shroud areas are very subtle likely due to them already being somewhat dense with foliage. Overall, texture, and pro changes are very good!

I look forward to the updates to the rest of the zones.

Browsing the JP forums, a lot of them are sharing the sentiment that cbu3 should both actually list what adjustments have been made in the patch notes, as well as give a more solid timeline of what is going to be changed moving forward. I completely agree. Making such a nothing update and then leaving us in the dark for 4 more months is not the way to go.

Tbh I'm not seeing any notable differences (at least wrt to my chars). Perhaps if I did a really indepth comparison I'd find some slight changes but overall they just feel like the same DT/7.0 characters to me. Their overall appearnce didn't really move back towards the direction of EW's originals.

No changes for my Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te either, still eyebrowless, puffy mouth corners and dull eyes.

For my Male Miqo'te Keeper (Face 1) it seems like his lips are no longer upturned into a smile at the corners. He no longer seem to have that resting smile :3 face, and is back to looking more serious by default.

7.0 vs 7.1
The only difference I can see is that her eyes are more angular in the outer corner than before, which I appreciate. I think they lessened the grease effect but it's still definitely there. Pretty much identical otherwise.

I put all this effort in, as early as I could, and hardly anything changed. A small tweak to the mouth. I was right not to get my hopes up, and yet I still feel disappointed anyway. I made a trial account to preview the changes. This was their chance to win me back, but I think maybe I stay unsubbed. I miss my miqo'te so so so much.
