Some of you guys will just say anything to defend SE's blatant ignorance. They basically admitted, in this exact thread, to carefully wording the patch notes differently from other contest winners because they already knew they couldn't deliver on the concept they were taking the design from. Is the community response really so out of proportion when the devs already knew there was a chance of this happening?

Moving on - I do appreciate that ffxiv put a lot of thought and effort into the darker skin tones during the graphic update, and I was hopeful that representation would be much better going forward. It's upsetting to see this hair go in looking like they got caught out in a rainstorm instead of how adorable it is in the art. The explanation on poly restrictions seems like a token gesture to place the blame on tech instead of finding creative solutions to problems. Do better.

I was actually talking about this with friends of mine. The hairstyle just looks like my hair during humid weather. In a vacuum, I actually quite like it, but as a final product meant to represent an art piece created to bring further diversity in hair styles and address the very noticeable issue with texturism in the game, it's really bad. They need to do better, not just shrug and move on.

I agree, on it's own I appreciate having the variety even if it's yet another super short hair. It seems like it could be a decent fit for tural style characters or poc with a more wavy texture -- but as a take on the artists work and with expectations already set, it's abyssal and embarrassing for square. GW 2 has so many great hairs to represent poc, I can't believe it's so beyond ffxiv's true capabilities.
