House hostage, mostly

House hostage, mostly

The amount of house hostage posts concerns me. On one hand if I was an evil developer I'd be like "oh, dont fix the problem?" on the other hand you'd hope for other less easily fixable reasons. I have faith, I think, that they wouldn't think exactly like that, but hope not. Like if I give you a house without strings, will you pack up and leave? It would be curious to see if there is any association with the reason people list why they stay and the thing that they think would keep them, perhaps pared with what they spend the most amount of time on. Just to see if there is any relationships between those items.

Can't say what keeps me subbed are friends. They all quit. Long time players. Almost 20 years between FF11 and this game.
The only thing keeping me subbed is keeping my FC and the personal house hostage plot.
Used to play all the time. Something my wife and i would pass our time. But lately. It's not enjoyable.
Lack of any real ability to do anything. Lack of PF groups and the general community have kept me from logging back in.

Large house, I've heavily considered letting it go. The game isn't a good value anymore. Every time I get the urge to log it gets followed by the following thought: But what would I even do? I like MMOs that provide adventure and challenging conditions that require people to socialize and solve.
This game doesn't have any shared adventures like this really. You have fights where you are instantly teleported to the boss arena and require socialization, like ults and savage, but all that encourages is raid logging, as in, only logging in to raid and then out. And it doesn't have challenging situations where a ton of strangers could band together and make their way.
The last thing like that (And I still don't like that it was instanced) was Bozja on release, and its been.... 4 YEARS... 4 years... since anything like that released. I just hope 17 is an MMO and it's more like 11 was. This WOW clone with instant teleports, instant boss arenas, super easy until its not, instant gratification, useless gear ladders is just not it anymore. Eventually I'll unsub and let the house go, but I guess there's still some sentimentality for the game that needs to keep wearing off.
I would even be happy with an 11 remake.
I want a grand adventure where I feel free and need to go make friends and get to know people. XIV is the most on rails thing with bots instead of real people doing the dungeons now in MSQ, noone talks, gotta find a discord to raid on cuz the chat and grouping systems are terrible and disjointed where you are server hopping and DC travelling. Just ughh....
It's a disaster.
I will give you a simple moment I haven't forgotten in what? 20 years? from XI.
I was exploring Ronfaure near Sand O ria and found a graveyard looking area, eventually I made my way through and entered a cave, just cuz it looked interesting. IIRC that led to beaucidine glacier or something like that where a mob saw me and one shot me. I was like, oh damn, this world is dangerous, I better watch it and be careful.
When was the last time XIV even made you feel danger anywhere? Or free? everything has a million blocks until you are MSQ approved to continue.... just.... I could go on ranting but you get the point.

Sunk cost fallacy and the belief that CS3 can course correct.

The story is still pretty damn good, though somewhat poorly executed. I appreciate their attention detail by not putting out poorly tested crap like Blizzard.

I'm still sticking around because of my house and I promised myself to wait for 7.1; mostly because I'm an Alliance Raid simp. But from what I've seen about 7.1 so far I'll probably run the AR a couple times then call it quits and let my house poof.

I play with my best friend everyday that lives several countries over. We've been doing thie for years now.
Just enjoying eachothers company, complaining about other people while doing content.
Without him I prob would have unsubbed a while ago.
The game is so predictable atm and has been for a while.
I know exactly what is coming next and because of draught we're doing Eureka again xD

Deep Dungeons & side activities like Gold Saucer, or just generally messing around. I always felt like that the side content was the true high of this game. I even heard rumors that there are japanese players subbed just to have a Mahjong lounge with a fully customizable avatar so that's that. Maybe some distant day when I'm reaaaaally bored I'll also dig into Mahjong rules...

Roleplay, mostly. And crafting/gathering.
Seriously I feel fatigued from the content, I can barely bring myself to even do the raid or otional content.
Dawntrail is what I imagine the entire MSQ as a healer-main.
