From what I've seen on both social media and here on these forums, there has been a mix of personal attacks against the VA and constructive criticism against the character

So I believe Yoshi P is wrong by saying there was no constructive criticism

But people saying that there hasnt been transphobia mixed in those criticism are also wrong, I dont believe its something that should be downplayed just because its a vocal minority

But the most surprising part to me is why is this still going on in November, surely everyone has finished MSQ by now, and busy doing end game stuff, is the topic coming back just because YoshiP mentioned it?

It's probably a byproduct of the fact that there has been very little in the way of 'official' response to the player feedback since Dawntrail launched. Until recently very little had been said or done to acknowledge, let alone address, the opinions/concerns voiced by the community on the forums & social media.

not gonna lie I don't care about the VA I have listen to it and it isn't bad but isn't good like it is missing something I didn't even knew the VA was trans and honestly don't care either they just see those as "attack" and "transphobic" because they love being a victim if you don't want critic don't be a public figure at all.

VA in English is off not bad but doesn't fit the character at all point some scene are downright horrible because of the fact they don't wanna shout/yell now I have a idea why but still I think the VA in Japanese is just perfect in my book and I will stick to that from now on too.


the death threat are downright stupid not gonna lie but sadly we live with humans some are really horrible people if they only see those then I guess they should drop being a voice actor right now

On Trans-coded characters:

On "Smile":

The song isn't "being compared to", it just *is* (allegedly) and the callout on "certain sections of gamers" is only ambiguously worded to have "a way out" as it were. Which it was used as in the long run. The intent is clearly to say "if you don't like Smile, you're a bad person." Because otherwise the post is saying "wow racist scumbags are being racist scumbags, that can't be a coincidence" and that's... I mean, yeah. Obviously.

I'm still hella confused about one thing: when did we ever mentor Wookie? Even this interview mentioned that. We only were there as a mercenary at best, cheerleader at worst. The only time we managed to rein her anger is when she was upsetti after her Papa's death... but I think that hardly counts as mentoring.
On a side note, I'm not sure about her complexity either. A box of tissue paper is more complex than her. You can make a tropey character complex and fun, sure... but not at the cost of everyone else's development/screen time.

Thats the thing. We didnt. Its so surface level, much like everything in Dawntrail. Down to the dumb Mamool banana problem cause they were too dumb to try anything else or I dont know... have their oversea warparties find a solution. My tinfoil theory is that part of the Msq was AI written. Most likely just bad writing from a bad writer though. It felt juvenile and it felt like it was talking down to the intelligence of its audience. Most people who play MMOs are adults. The majority arent teens or younger. Have some integrity and respect for your audience.
WHICH THEY DID earlier, but now? I dont know what happened. It feels like Yoshi P is gaslighting us because the patch stories are already made and cant be changed/they dont want to change them. So hes selling a "mentor arc" and "we hope to show more of Wuk Lamat"

The thing that’s bad is that even if they wanted to show actual mentorship now as an excuse to give us more wuk the time has passed as she is now the ruler and that has passed out of our wheelhouse as we have specifically turned down rulerships because we don’t want them

So if they go down the mentorship route now either we will be mentoring her on something we don’t have the right to (which will probably devolve into “meet with this emissary with us in the room as a show of strength” style “mentoring” they have been way too fond of recently) or she will dump off her role again to koana to follow us for another conspiracy/adventure which will just repeat how everyone hated that she was present in solution 9

The devs are very aware of the opinions on Wuk lamat by every region. They know the fandom, they see what characters are popular and which aren't.
It says a lot when DT released and none of the JP nor EN/EU circles I frequent in gives a single flying fuck about Wuk lamat. Everyone is still creating content and fanworks for characters from the previous expansions. If a character completely flops to the point they don't get as many fanworks as a character that appeared for 5 minutes in a raid then well, it probably speaks volumes to how well liked she is.

What I don't understand is the decision to double down when the entire issue surrounding her is how much screentime she takes up. And that really is just the tip of the iceberg, the article doesn't seem to mention how lackluster the overall story in DT was and how even more Wuk Lamat yapping about friendship to the Alexandrians in the next patch is not going to fix the borderline issue the story had to begin with.
I can't imagine anyone having emotional attachment to the characters in DT. There is no reason why any of us should care about these people besides basic compassion for having a cat usurp their queen, while simultaneously installing a puppet king into their government. If the devs took the political implication of that serious it would at least make for a compelling narrative, but we all know the most we get out of this is more unrealistic and shallow "friendship and family fixes everything."

The things in the WoL's wheelhouse that they could have mentored her on, like dealing with unavoidable loss, fighting, etc are all things that happened in 7.0 that she overcame on her own with no scenes that would lead from her going from point A to point B. She has no perceivable skill deficiencies, so what are we supposed to help with in patch content? Seasickness? S9 being unhappy at being turned into a vassal state lead by a lizard child isn't something the WoL should be able to help with because diplomacy has usually fallen to other characters.
