I'm too much of a post-Cata andy to really enjoy Classic WoW content that much, but I might give Turtle a try later.

Sub already cancelled and have 2 days left on the forum. My personal reason for leaving, was Dawntrail. Not a veteran, not by a long shot, i started back in 2023. I gave WoW 16 years even when I didn't enjoy playing. It was more a bad habit. And I learned from that mistake. I won't be throwing away money again on a game I do no longer enjoy. I was exited for this new expansion, instead this piece of crap was shoved down my throat, a totally different game, this was not what I paid for. I paid for an adventure with Krile and Erenville, not this annoying orange cretin. I feel like I've been cheated on.

I do hope 7.1 will be different, if not, I won't be back for this expansion. If I do come back for a new expansion, I will wait till i read reviews on the forum. So I will go on new adventures in the mean time. Just not in gaming. For now Fare thee well.

Why wouldn't people read it? You post, it sends the thread to the top of the forum, and people interested in the subject can click the "view new post" button.

When I've poked around the JP forum is seems reasonably active but people actually spread out and post things in the subforums in an organised manner instead of dumping everything into General Discussion.

I think the poor DT MSQ highlighted flaws in the game that have been there but may not have always been as noticeable by players other than veterans etc. A good story will retain players as they are excited for the next patch msq and enjoy the world they are in. Without that, you realize endgame is either savage or...savage. there is literally no endgame if you don't count levelling jobs which I don't. I don't do savage, would be nice to be tossed some other content than treasure maps since DT released.

Where did you hear this? Regardless, I'm sure that to find this out they would just need to send out a survey to people who unsubscribe. That's what other games and subscription services do.
    Gear becomes obsolete very fast
Not just that. Gear even becomes obsolete faster than that. Get crafted gear, almost immediately getting replaced with raid and tomestone gear within weeks. Within weeks of that it's replaced with augments. Then your extreme trial weapon replaced with a raid or tome weapon. And it just keeps happening so often. Even worse was in Shadowbringers we got gear from bozja to even make augmented crafted gear obsolete so everything just kept getting made obsolete within the same tier.

I do want to point out that this exact complaint is what WoW players used to complain about before ARR released. They were tired of the endless gear grind. And well, like any MMO this game copied that model.
Every dungeon and raid battle is exactly the same - a pattern of mechanics that 1/3 of the way through the lengthy fight repeats in reverse, then at the final 2/3 of the fight gets all smashed together at once until the final 10% where things get very spicy
That's a very zoomed out view of it and if that's how you see things then I imagine you'd struggle to enjoy things in general. It's like saying most food is just a different arrangement of wheat flour and dairy, or that most music is just the same notes in a different pattern, or that every car is just a metal structure with the same pattern of components. After 10 years playing (with almost no break at all) I don't personally have this struggle that you do.
There's no longer "jobs" but categories
I did like when they were more unique and rewarded knowing little nuances about them, but overall I still enjoy them. I think the main problem is that due to how long dungeons remain in Expert roulette, you get so sick of farming the same dungeon that you flat out get bored of your job as well and need to switch to random jobs just to enjoy the game again. This is what happened to me at the end of Endwalker. I just had to play a different job at random in mentor roulette and at FATEs because I was so sick of the same one.
The quests in the meantime are mostly all pretty much the same thing - go a few steps down this road and bring back x amount of items or go find this NPC and come back.
Well they have been improving these with RPG features such as following NPCs, NPCs following you, etc. I don't know what else you expect from an MMO quest. Suggestions?
The holiday events are even worse. Years ago they had you go explore outside and participate in battles or enter unique places like the Halloween themed Haukke Manor. Now the quests just have you shuffle around town talking to a number of NPCs
Agreed. I find these events a chore and I put them off until the last day. I think all MMORPGs need their standard seasonal events but they could just not focus on the quests and talking so much, and just focus on the action. We could just walk up to an NPC and they say "hunting easter eggs this year? go for it!" and that's the only interaction, then we hunt easter eggs, then we exchange them for rewards. Instead of trying to make a sob story for the event always.

Not sure when he ever asked it but I'll bite: Gameplay just got boring, a pretty simple answer.

Also siphoning all the money from ffxiv over all those years finally start to catch up on them but hey, you can expect the next live letter to advertise the next fatcat merch that you can buy for 300€.

And content being so thinly sliced across expansions that there's really no hope satisfying the starved playerebase anymore...

But ya gotta cut that one intern some slack that basically has to manage FFXIV as a whole these days while the rest is probably working on the next FF game /s - their passion for this game is seemingly gone, and so is mine ngl but it's ok after 11years pretty normal. I'm still fairly happy with the loyal fan/players of this game but that's about it.

You can't seriously mean that? Cause really, that is still just "walking somewhere".
But, as for examples for new, different, fresh quests? These are just spitball ideas I am thinking of at this moment, no previous thought on that matter:

    - Pilot a dragon or a helicopter and drop bombs on enemies/obstacles to clear a path for a group.
    - duel with an enemy that actually takes longer than half your opener to kill.
    - jump over platforms to get somewhere.
    - disguise yourself as someone else and steal things/sabotage equipment when no one is looking.
    - make a monster kill another monster, then slay the buffed up beast.
    - buff yourself with an immunity of your choice to traverse a hostile path on the map.
    - get put on a mount that moves like in chocobo racing, making you evade obstacles.
    - something using that shooting minigame from the gold saucer.

none of these are especially creative, deep, or difficult, but they would help to break up the monotony of "go there, watch cutscene, speak to 3 NPCs, watch cutscene, quest reward".

Unfortunately, FFXIV needs MSQ content to be designed for the lowest common denominator of player, or else it will be literally unplayable. According to someone.

Who are these people who somehow managed to boot up their PC, download, install, and open the game, but cannot manage any in-game mechanics that require you to push more than one button at a time?

Handicapped people who can't keep up with some complex mechanics? Okay, yeah, that's understandable. But there are and can be more accessibility options for such people.
People who just want to be able to speedrun brain-dead to the end so they can start crafting ASAP? Yeah, kick rocks. Never design your game around minmaxers.
Maybe a few JP players who have one hand... occupied doing other things... while playing? Wouldn't be surprised, since SE only likes listening to their JP feedback.
