    Seems like they only decided to nerf the rim lighting on the characters themselves, unless this is just a case of "Updates to older content will continue throughout the patches" and its been toned way down on the new armors too (This is the Patrician's Coatee, dyed jet black, on the Gold Saucer tap keeper).

    Still looks really odd, light bleeds around the edges of the clothes but not around the character at all.

    There is rimlighting on the new character models when it makes sense for it to be there, and even when it kind of doesn't, like on his brow ridge, but there's only so much that can be done since they aren't going to implement ray tracing.

    I just wanted to come in before the update. I'm sure it's too late, but maybe there's a possibility it can be or has been looked at.

    All of the faces have an issue of too many smoothed out angles. The jawline, cheek bone, eyesocket, lips, and nose are the worst offenders I've seen in almost every comparison picture. Everything is too rounded with nothing sharp or angled. That doesn't mean that the faces didn't have round high cheek bones or rounded eyelines, they did, but the jawline / lips / noses were all mostly sharper.

    In particular, my main character's Viera face 3 was done miserably. Her jawline is so swollen and rounded that it completely changed her facial structure. She had high puffy cheeks, but there is no longer definition between her high cheek bones and jawline, it's just one giant puffy cheek like she was stung by a bee in the face. The whites of her eyes are either very reddish/orange or yellow in almost all cutscenes. I know it needs to be an off-white, but she legitimately looks like she has jaundice. Her eyes are larger and clearer overall, which I did think was an improvement.

    The distance between the nose and lips was increased but not by much, the biggest offender is her jaw / giant chin. She looks like she had jaw surgery. That space between the round chin and her lips is just ridiculously large. This is with me picking the smallest jaw option. I couldn't even take the other jaw options seriously they're so goofy looking and huge.

    I hope they can look at viera face 3 and fix these issues. The characters overall looked better and stylized almost with drawing lines before - they had a charm about them before the update. Afterwards they just look like gigachin swollen face ai pictures. No one, as I look around, looks good to me. Please please fix this.

    This is what really turned me off from the new Roegadyn face. The flat cheeks were rounded out, the edges of the nose were rounded, the brow smoothed. It's more "human" looking but the character wasn't human to begin with. I don't like what they did to the Roe faces at all.

    This is extremely obvious on male elezen as well. They always were unique in how angular they were, and it was charm point. I'd compare what they've done to them now to be like...well, idk, I like my elves looking inhuman, and the pre-graphics update elezen were like Morrowind or Skyrim elves, but the graphics update turned them into Oblivion elves. It's a letdown. They're too round and soft!

    Funnily enough though one of my major issues with my midlander is the opposite of this. They made the face 5 eyes universally more angular near the tear duct when they were rounded before. No real reason for this change and definitely no grounds for it just being "higher quality graphics making them look more as they were intended to look"

    I just want my character to have her eyebrows back. I want her to have cute blonde hair but she looks like an alien because she's so pale the eyebrows are non existent.

    I want to bring up the issue again of darker skin tones all looking lighter and more washed out/gray with the graphics update. I know that this is not being addressed often because not many people play as characters using the darker skin tones, but it is very obvious to me and has made the disparity in available skin tones between (for example) sun cats and midlanders much more obvious. my character can no longer have the skin tone he had prior to the update, and switching to the only darker option left for him has made made it very obvious that the highlight feature on dark skin is way too over tuned. I hope that this will be addressed in a future update, even if not the closest one. (if this continues to be an issue post 7.1, I'll compile refs.)

    Additional Feedback On Male Viera Face 2

    Posted way earlier in the thread, just coming back with more feedback.

    Face Options
    Eyes 1
    Nose 1
    Jaw 1
    Lips 4

    I noticed more of what made Face 2 look so jarring and added paint overs to better establish that. Most should speak for themselves but the most blatant changes are with the eyes, nose, and lips.

    The eyes are virtually unfinished. From the texturing to the overall anatomy there. 7.X eye sockets are blocky(as if traced over without a proper edit) and lack a natural looking tear duck. The rim of the eyes and eyelids are also unusually wide, the eyes slanted (rather then taller/rounder like 6.X) and the eye lashes of course are too thin.

    The nose has a painted shadow on the sides and beneath the nose. 6.X had little to no shading, which translated that cuteness and simplicity rabbit noses have.

    As for the mouth, the upper lip in 7.X does not cover the full span of the mouth, lacks a tubercle, and had harsh shading at the corners of the mouth.


    While I'm appreciative of the graphical update as a whole, I hope to see proper quality control made across all races and genders, not just the most popular options.

    Me, praying really damn hard for this, as a former hellsguard femroe. It's so damn hard to have any hope now that they'll listen to us and our upset at being made more hyuran-esque with the rounding out they've done that drops the more beastial-ursine-(galka)-like traits of the last decade.

    (Smallest % played race across all regions, I know I'm not the only one feeling incredibly defeated that any feedback we give will result in nothing because of that... the most consistent plea across roe players from the JP feedback thread has been 'we're the smallest playerbase but we deserve just as much care'.)

    Same… you can really see where some faces on some races got lots of TLC and others did not.

    I hesitate to post gposes, since I know I can’t control the exactness of the pose and angle like I can in the portrait maker. But I think this shot really shows the difference between EW (left) and DT (right). Maybe they could be cousins, but they’re not the same person.
