Retired FFXI character: Ranok of Sylph
Tough question, you mean in terms of class name or mechanics?
Because it will be hard to create totally different mechanics from what already exists in the series. THey could give a slightly twist to the already existing jobs but I think they will mostly stick to the traditional names, + maybe 1 or 2 new within the game's lifespan
As for the OP:
In no order at all: Summoner, Time Mage, Trickster, Corsair, Dancer, Ninja(If not then Juggler!), Dark Knight, Illusionist, Tinker, Red Mage, Blue Mage, Beast Master, Necromancer, Puppetmaster, Thief.
Are just a few off top of my head!
I actually think letting different jobs (and specifically, jobs, not classes) have an animal form would be an awesome idea.I know people are going to hate me for this...but I would enjoy a class/job that could transform into creatures. I know it does not seem very FF but I would enjoy it. Maybe a new take on bluemage <_< or you could just say its a rip off of wow druid too I guess....but I hate wow druid.
Jobs/Classes I'd like to see implemented in no particular order - Allomancer (only heard about it the other day and sounds awesome), Berserker, Dark Paladin/Knight/Templar, Necromancer, and Dancer.
Seems like name and lore.... Although new class mechanics are possible...Tough question, you mean in terms of class name or mechanics?

I'd like to see an Astral/Umbral melee class...
And before you say Dark Knight... please remember that Dark Knight was elemental.. not necessarily umbral...
think about it... an umbral melee class that uses umbral weaponskills like "Bio Slash" or something
Not trying to sound WOWish at all when I mention this job, but I think being a shapeshifter of a sort is pretty neat idea for a job. I imagine it being a less version of redmage. That is just me though.
I would also very much like to have summoner T_T please SE? I really want my carbie pet!

FF job + currently popular in mainstream youth culture = next job.
They did it with SAM & NIN (Naruto etc) they did it with COR (PotC) and SCH (Harry Potter).
So whats next? I am too old to know, so you tell me kiddies.
What goes on in the forums stays in the forums.
Like Druids in WOW you mean? I would see that work in XIV. Cat form = red XIII, Moonkin = cait sith and bear form i would say kimahri but he's a cat too....I know people are going to hate me for this...but I would enjoy a class/job that could transform into creatures. They tried making up news ones.
They came up with Gladiator, Pugilist, Marauder, Conjurer, Thaumaturge
And people were angry. They wanted classic FF classes because this is a Final Fantasy game. People were/are expecting White Mage, Black Mage, Warrior, Monk, Thief, Red Mage, Paladin, Dark Knight, Dragoon, etc
So please, let's stick with more Final Fantasy jobs.
