    And there is no easy way around it. The issue was also that some classes were significantly better than others under certain group constellations. Now every almost every class has their major burst damage in the same time frame.
    The alternative is to remove all group buffs or make them a constant effect, but than there is no point for classes like dancer and bard.

    I think what any job is "about" is going to be subjective. For example, to me Ninja is about Mudra because that's what I like about the job; from my perspective, the 1-2-3 combo and moves like Assassinate are just there to trick players into thinking they're doing something while they're waiting to do the part of the job that's actually fun.

    But I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone out there who loves Ninja and feels like the main draw is getting to manage the new Kunai Counter with your 1-2-3 combos. What's boring to me is what excites someone else; such is the nature of subjectivity. All of which is to say, take everything anyone says on the topic with a grain of salt, and remember that different kinds of players who like different kinds of things exist.

    YoshiP has mentioned in some media tour interviews that their aim with the new actions they added for some jobs this expac was to make filler less about building up resources for bursts. I don't think they've been really successful with it outside MCH though.

    I would certainly prefer there be less party buffs around from how much they really just force every job's rotation to fit into them and/or shorten the buff timer to all of them to like 10s so there's less space to squeeze things in.

    as long as burst are focused all job will feel the same with some tweak in it but then again if they want to correct it they will have to nuke so much x)

    I have little hope that the future rework will address this, give that the only job who could live healthy outside of the 2min contraints was BLM and suddenly the new Manafont doubles down on the importance of burst windows for them...

    They made it so scattershot giving 10 heat makes it worth ignoring the ST combo sometimes for certain fight optimisation. That's pretty much all they've done since EW lol.

    I'm really confused about where this discussion about 'burst-focused jobs' is coming from. I think part of the problem is that people are automatically assuming that aDPS means burst. The correlation is much more tenuous than that.



    Here are two jobs on polar opposite ends of burst vs. continuous damage. Both have roughly the same aDPS and rDPS in the same run (give or take a couple hundred rDPS/aDPS). But there are some obvious differences in burst vs. consistent damage. If you want to assess how much burst a job has, look at its peak DPS under burst. Don't look for surrogate measures. You can evaluate this directly.

    You can argue that all jobs have some degree of burst, given the existence of two minute raidbuffs. Double Reawaken is flashy, but the bulk of VPR's damage comes from persistently maintaining uptime.

    Back in EW or ShB, they changed Bootshine to proc a guaranteed crit after Snap Punch. Wasn't Bootshine a glowy button then too? This just seems to me like an extension of that.

    It's in arguable that they don't. All buffs align to two minutes, the only sustained damage job is BLM but even then it has 3 2 minute CDs that make it more bursty. There is no job in this game that's not got a burst.
