I am waiting for Buster sword personally :PI can't say I see the WoW comparisons >_> I think we're starting to manifest similarities that don't exist. They look like final fantasy weapons; I can't be the only person who's played the console rpgs, and if you have played them, then nothing here is outside of SE's usual taste for weaponry. SE has always produced normal weapons, fancy gadget weapons, gag/lol weapons, and "wtf is this" weapons. Always. I am surprised as to why anyone is so shocked at the weapons being churned out now: they are totally SE and final fantasy flavor. When has final fantasy NOT had weapons like that? The 8bit generation?
Hmm maybe. Lux. But i see alot of entertaining gag in the moogle weapons but with the gag i see nice detail and form (Moogle axe has moogle cuteness but its still a pretty sexy axe). I look at some of the Guardia weapons and i see more oversized tacked on parts, which i remember happening quite a bit in wow weaponry.
I guess to me it just seems a silly way to decide on the aesthetics of drops. Guardia of wind. Lets put wings on a bunch of the drops. Big feathery wings. When you could just as well make the same "wing and feather" statement in the shape and forom of the bow itself.
(Maybe the arc of the bow could be the winged pattern and the handle and knock could have a decorated handguard that could make the whole bow looks like a bird/angel/guardia in flight)
I guess the above is more of the aesthetic look i'm more pleased with. And if you take a look at alot of the clothes and armor in FF14. Some of these weapons look so out of place. Which might be why they look even more over the top.
Take a look at say Vintage Hauberk or even Colbolt plate. and then look at some of the up coming weapons. It just makes the difference seem even bigger. FF14 has a more muted look then many MMOs and even past FF games. Like some posters said.
They meant it's not FFXI-like, so FFXI isn't very FF-like actually.I can't say I see the WoW comparisons >_> I think we're starting to manifest similarities that don't exist. I wonder what it's like to be born without that part of your brain which tells you if something is ugly or not. Fact is, some of these weapons just don't mesh with the rest of the gameworld. It looks wrong. S.E. should rethink their design choices for the future, at the very least.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder?I wonder what it's like to be born without that part of your brain which tells you if something is ugly or not. You can have weapons with a fantasy style that still fit a realistic aspect, which is all artistic realism is about - the ability to display the abstract in a manner consistent with how they would appear in the objective world.
Way to have a pretentiously objection perspective on something extremely subjectiveI wonder what it's like to be born without that part of your brain which tells you if something is ugly or not. The perception of Aesthetic beauty differs from person to person....
