    Um no.

1.0 was a new game, with new lore, new story, new characters. What was bad about 1.0 was the combat system was a copy-paste of 11's and the world map was also copy-paste to an excessive level that everyone, including the beta testers were getting lost because they kept seeing the same map tiles over and over again. The two key things beta testers said, over and over again "copy paste topology" and "insanely poor performance"

All that "1.0" needed to fix it was to gut the combat system in favor of what we got with 2.0, but they decided to make it also able to run on computers that were not top-of-the-line and also PS3's, which in hindesight probably degraded the visuals too far. The 1.0 models were gorgeous, and the Miqo'te gear had actual tail and ear holes, and their gear actually fit them, not clipped through them. The music in 1.0 is Nobuo Uematsu's work which is a staple of all Final Fantasy games before 14 except 13.

Was 1.0's combat system bad? Yes, but not for the reasons people think it was bad. 1.0's combat system was turn-based like all ATB Final Fantasy games. You frequently died in fights because ATB is not forgiving in a client-server setup, where as in single player games the "game is paused" while you make decisions. This made 1.0's combat feel slow and sloppy.

Also 1.0 you couldn't jump over inch high fences. While some people complain about the loading tunnels, if it meant that the world was seamless I would have taken that over what we have now which limits environmental exploration. We can still see where the loading tunnels were, even in DawnTrail, they are still there (pretty much every time you see a staircase or a causeway somewhere with no NPC's, that was a loading tunnel,) but they put the "scene transition" in front of it so you never get to see the outside of a lot of things now.

So no. While there was a lot of 'bad' things about 1.0, it was still a new game and the lore wasn't "bad", just the underlying game engine was a poor match for a MMORPG when MMO's moved in the direction of being more action oriented and less "standing in one spot" like you still did in 13, which used the same game engine.

If anything Dawntrail's story feels like the first half of ARR, but instead of being handed off between scions, it's just Wuk Lamat. It's perhaps that over-presence in the story that people feel that their WoL is basically just a cheer-leader for 4/7th's of the game before the FF9 crossover begins. Which maybe tells you what the problem is, that the better written portion of the game, where stakes matter, was done before, in FF9.

So "worse than 1.0" no. The only way an expansion can be "worse than 1.0" is by having no dungeon content.

As you said 1.0 was new, there were ideas. Then yes 1.0 had all its problems, but after 13 years SE has learned nothing? Look at the reviews for example on steam...The game still ff14, but it has lost its charm. If innovative means doing the exact same dailies every day, well then I'm the one who doesn't know the meaning of the word innovate.

I don't think you understand how this game works. It's never going to change things up completely because that would piss off the majority of the player base. People go to different games to get different experiences. I don't want this game to change the majority of its formulaic systems every expansion. That's bad.

I know how the formula works, that's why I'm complaining. If Yoship during the presentation of DT clearly said that the structure was a copy and paste and didn't use the word INNOVATE, all this discontent wouldn't have been created because I wouldn't have bought the game.

SE only cares about one thing from EU players, the monthly subscription money. a company that creates an event in which only 4 nations can participate in all of Europe makes you understand how much we are taken into consideration. The only hope we have is that some big streamer will make themselves heard in some way. But our feedback is completely ignored..

    Kinda this.

Like, back in the day I loved me some Megaman/castlevania 2D. I played every NES release. I’d still be buying new megaman/castlevania games if they kept them going more regularly, but they don’t. I’m fine with similar games like Ori or Hollowknight. Even Cuphead. But ultimately, if I pick up a megaman game, I’m not expecting it to be, say, Bayonetta.

Same deal here. It’s supposed to be basically the same thing because that’s what we want. You can tweak and add some new bits and bobs, but if you suddenly made this a completely different game, you might lose people (See FF11 25 years ago vs. now).

So, if I wanna play some other game, I’ll play that game. If I wanna play a pretty chill theme-park of a game with friends, this is where I’ll be.

This is something I wish they would consider bringing back as a “do with friends, not available in the Duty Finder” kinda thing.

The problem is the old school dungeons were much more open-mapped, which meant a bit of a s##tshow with new players. Imagine trying to jump into one of the Faux Hollows without ever ever doing actual EX or Savage before where people expect you to know what to do/where to go.

Good idea, big sprawling dungeons…but hard to execute with random pugs. Wish they would take a page from
    FF11’s dungeons.

i don't want a new game, i want to play ff14, i don't want a total overhaul. I just want to play the game that was sold to me with INTENSE NEW RENOVATED GAMEPLAY. Where is it?

What can I say, play it or don’t play it. I’m not gonna tell you what to do with your free time.

It’s not like you owe SE some weird loyalty if you don’t like the direction the game is moving. I’m kinda on the fence myself in that I might time out my sub until just before the next expac because I genuinely just haven’t been playing this as much as I used to and real world economy sucks.

Not the fault of the game, just it’s been 10 years and I’ve basically done everything there is that I wanna do.

So at the end of the day you do you.

You probably don't want to hear this, but maybe this game is pandering to other player's needs other than your own. I mean, after all true endgame is glamour. All you can do is push for certain changes that you want and hope that the crowd is big enough to where SE delivers. I mean, that seems to be the meta: complain until you get the changes that you want, no matter how long it takes.
Yes, our attention was stolen (lol). Wuk Lamat became the main character instead of us. Also, a new arc was started. I'm not expecting for the story to be S+ tier right now. However, I think I might know what the devs are planning in 8.0 and beyond based on this expansion's main scenario...although I think they're making a huge gamble testing everyone's patience with what was offered now.

Probably should have kept things simple. Just don't become another Emet.
