It feels like we keep getting lied to for this expansion by YoshiP.

With the recent Viper knee-jerk change, it has occurred to me that YoshiP seems to keep lying to us.

He said that Dawntrail will finally return "more individuality" to the MMO's jobs, admitting "we're not in a good situation for that" after years of over-simplification... but we got 4 healers who play similarly, 4 tanks who are pretty close, and now Viper just got simplified and gameplay changed after a month.

Simplification

YoshiP said that Krile would play an active role in the DT MSQ, but she only really had a role at the start and a bit at the end of the story while the rest was all about Wuk Lamat.

Gameplaywise, I'm pretty sure he said something about the boss sizes. The Savage bosses are at least smaller than EX1+2, but boy were the bosses for Ex1+2 HUGE.

It makes me worry about the new Eureka/Bozja zone. It also makes me worry about Beastmaster, especially because I keep thinking it'll turn out like the Morpher from FFTA w/ the soul system. It also makes me a bit depressed that no matter what we say or do, he'll ignore everyone but the content creators and the Japanese playerbase.

I'm surprised anybody would even take his word at face value lol? It's obvious YoshiP talks PR nonstop and people just chug it down like some sort of miracle water.

Not that I think he was doing a great job before, but I really think he started delegating his FFXIV duties a lot more in the past few years. He's the big boss and he's the face, but a lot of what he says feel like internal miscommunications.

For the first part, in the interview with Yoshi-P that you linked, he literally says they're looking to diversify jobs a bit more in "Patch 7.2 and beyond." We're in Patch 7.05 as of this morning. I don't see the "lie" yet...

For the second part, Krile definitely played an active role in the MSQ. She was part of the team the entire journey and was one of the two main "side-stories" alongside Erenville. It may not have been to the level you either wanted or had come to expect in your head, but it doesn't change that she was an active part of the story.

Oh there's definitely lying, since they just gutted viper. Go figure. If a job that had a unique combo structure got changed less than a month after release, we see how "committed" they are to making jobs feel unique. Also they removed the poison from the snake job.

He was pretty clear that job individuality would be in 8.0, not in 7.0. He also publically denied that he said what gamesradar said he did, and that they mistranslated it.

He could have just meant Krile played the role that she did, not that it was all about her. It was pretty obvious it was all about Wuk Lamat prior to the expansion.

As for Beastmaster, I suggest that you don't expect much for it. Their implementations of various jobs could have been as ambitious as FF11, but they generally aren't. It'll probably just be a "beast book" instead of a "spell book" and not be much more complicated than that. It could be more complicated, but SE isn't realistically gonna make it that complex are they?

What? No it wasn't. We met Wuk Lamat in 6.55 (leg reveal in 6.5), and before that we had NO IDEA what would make us go to Tural. She only appears at the very end of the trailers, and every interview, promotional material and things said about the expansion story were about the WoL going to Tural on a "low stakes, summer vacation-like expansion", Erenville would be there, and that the Scions would be against eachother.

The only thing that ever points at being about Wuk Lamat is the launch trailer, and even that they only focus on showing her for the first part and the becoming Dawnservant thing.
