Thinking about it just makes me sad, Dawntrail gave me permanent trust issues

I just wanted to punch Thancred in the face
It was (and still is) in the plot synopsis for some of the DT information pages.

I kinda expected Alisae to knock Thancred on his ass, since he said he wouldn't hesitate to do it to her. Oh well.

It was part of the final cutscene of 6.55.

After the Sisters/Anima reveal and actual use, I stopped assuming anything shown would be a trial, or even necessarily a dungeon boss. I had forgotten entirely about the Eliminator, though I guess it's going to show up in the raid. You guys thought this was going to be just a summer vacation for the Warrior of Light? Think again!
*changes slide*
Check this out. Eliminator.
Bet you wonder what that's all about, huh? It's probably something massive... stay tuned!
I think I'm done with media tours after all these misdirections this time around
Wait, it's *that* boss? Wow, I looked into the Eliminator a lot less than I thought I did, I didn't even recognize it.

Well Eliminator is in the MSQ and got its cinematic entrance. What's wrong about showing an image of him before? They couldn't have shown others trials without spoiling the plot guys. Doesn't feel as misleading and lying as the "Scions are divided"

They also said it was a low stakes summer vacation, and immediately we're competing against someone who wants to create an ethnostate, and another who wants worldwide domination.
That's to say nothing about where the story goes after that.
What's worse is that they actually had a winning formula in one zone. The overall goal is to get to Yyasulani, but we're distracted by someone whose treasured bracelet was stolen, and we need to get it back without killing anyone. Right there, we've got a low stakes plot with motivation, conflict, likable characters, and room for escalation. And it does escalate into a High-Noon duel. They even use rubber bullets so no one actually has to die.
I'd like some more of that please! How hard would it have been to have a simple race to get to the golden city between two teams of scions? We explore some ancient ruins, maybe fight a legendary monster or two, help the people out with their issues, and it never progresses past a simple friendly rivalry.
I don't even think I'm getting bogged down in expectations, That's literally all we're shown in the trailer. Everyone's just doing their own thing having a good time. We're fighting Gulool Jaja, Estinien is hunting, Y'Shtola is studying. We're all having a good time together. Meanwhile, G'Raha and Y'Shtola don't even show up until lvl 97, and they feel very tacked on. G'Raha is only there to exposit on things that wouldn't make sense for Alphinaud or Krile to do.

I mean we could sue SE for false advertising at this point.
