The End of Stalking, Blacklist & Lodestone

I can assume this will cause some awkward situations in the roleplaying scene, but honestly? I take it, if it means to erase certain people from existence.

Now if only that would work here in the Forums... Like, blocking someone completely removing them from your end, not just hiding their comments.

The new Blacklist update is exactly what I had wished for (for 7.0), it completely ends Stalking both from within the game and out.

Being account wide is exactly what we've been needing, the fact it will hide the name, character model and even chat from a blacklisted player, even in a duty (won't hide the model, but you won't see the name or the players chat if you don't want to).
It is as good as Deleting a blacklisted player from the game!

Can't wait to hide my profile and remove my character from the lodestone search.

Not to mention being able to block access to your Estate so blacklisted players can no longer enter the yard and the house itself!

Unlikely, based on how it works it will still capture even if your lodestone profile even if its private.

Something that actually always bothered me somewhat, since it touches upon privacy. And one can still argue that the lodestone data is officially public, but fflogs parses are not and made without one's consent.

Now if only it would also automatically remove you from the other person's friend list and things like that. (Because even if you de-friend them, you still show up on their friends list and will show up when you appear online, as tested with a trusted friend).

A good point that I can't remember or find if they touched on this exact detail, we need an answer to this.

What will happen in the situation of a Friend being removed from your Friend List, will you still be on their Friend List, or will you be removed? or hidden, for example: (Unable to Retrieve).

And, in the same situation as above, if we don't get removed or hidden on their Friend List, does adding the removed friend to your Blacklist then remove YOU or hide/mask your status from their Friend List, so they can't track/view you, for example: (Unable to Retrieve) or completely removed from the Blacklisted friends' Friend List.

This would seem like a huge oversight, if you are not removed or hidden from them, and they can see your Name and check the character status!

I will test with my alt after the update and see what happens (hopefully a community rep can confirm for us?), if we in-fact do stay on other players Friend List after we remove said friend from our own Friend List, then I will make a new Thread to garner attention of this, problematic issue.

A ton of people are super excited about the new house kick feature, and while it sounds good on paper, Americans (such as myself) have special needs. You see, we don’t just treat people as individuals, we treat them as a group. So if you have faction A owning a venue, and person X from faction B is against that venue, you don’t just kick X but also the entirety of B. Which results in venue warfare because now kick wars are legitimized which will result in the fragmentation of the American venue community.

A lot of people like this because we’re a warlike people and we love conflict, but I wonder whether Yoshida realizes this or not. He doesn’t seem to realize that his version of FFXIV relies on “clubbing” and drama rather than actual gameplay. Notice how he spent no time on the video game portion of FFXIV in the LL. He’s hardly addressed it at all. Versus WoW’s expansion keynote, which revealed new features months ahead of time. While most of you love this because it lets you play other games, it’s disappointing that the general focus of FFXIV has moved so far beyond being a video game (at least for Americans). And it takes a proactive approach on his behalf to neutralize our warlike and political culture. We need an American community manager that can have direct input in these issues.

Because trolls love an audience. There are some folks you will see post on every single thread in the forum and it really begs the question for what type of person has the time for that.

Which is why, in my post, I indicated that unrelated parties will also be affected. In the American FFXIV community, people are penalized for actions committed by others. For example, in the user-generated content community, person A made an asset that people use but said a slur a few years ago. Person B uses that asset. The community has a blanket blacklist on all associations with person A, meaning that person B will also be blacklisted. This is how the venue scene operates as well, particularly on Primal where turf wars are common. If you're an affiliate of someone, you're guilty by association. In my personal experience, this also happens in Balmung FCs.

I just find it funny how WoW never has this problem because it pivoted to gameplay over RP a long time ago. Yoshida keeps flooding us with casual and RP "content" at the expense of people looking to play a video game, such as spending every LL for Dawntrail so far on social features, grass and eyeballs. This game is a catastrophic disappointment because it leaves people with nothing to do but fight over petty drama. Western FFXIV players need to be managed, not simply provided for.

Well there are other mmo's you can go play if you are so disappointed with this one. Yes I do penalize the friends of stalkers and creeps because birds of a feather. Maybe prune your social group of the creeps and you will see less drama. The venue scene is just a bunch of horn dogs either AFK emoting dancing to some twitch DJ or someone shouting about the millions of gil giveaway they have used to lure people in. Is there drama? Absolutely, but guess what there has been drama in MMO's since the conception of online play in an MMO. EveryQuest, Ultima Online, even WoW has had more than their fair share of drama, and lumping it all on RP is a stretch at best. Millions of players are not going to all get along which is what you seem to desire. There are plenty of creeps out there that deserve to be black listed and removed from civilized people, and frankly anyone who remains associated with that type are most likely just like them from my personal experiences. So good riddance to bad rubbish. Seems like you are just butt hurt over the fact that your trolling days are coming to an end as you find yourself being removed from locations where you have left a less than desirable taste in folks mouths. Which in my humble opinion if you are complaining about people being able to punt aholes out of their houses finally you are part of the ahole problem.

Define abused? If the venue owner or manager is annoyed by you do you really care to stay there? It's not abuse to remove aholes from your house on any level and frankly if you are crying about this seeing it as abuse you are probably part of why this was needed in the first place. The fact you could ask someone to leave in the past and had zero way to make them leave was a problem. If you get kicked out of a place why would you care if it was abusive or not go touch grass seriously.
