Is there any reaction on the Japanese side of the forum to this?Well here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqBWp00XNZs We got the 1 tank 3 dps run during the media tour.
If yes, how do they feel about it?
I recall some EN forum folks has visited the JP forum and asked for more DPS option for healer, but a lot of JP folks pretty much object to it, and most of them are happy with the way healer are.
As for CN folks however, there's some civil war going on among them regarding the direction of FFXIV is heading, to a point it kinda splited the playerbase into Group Yoshida-daddy (Yoshi-fan) vs Group Anti-Yoshida (The regular player that are dissastified with Yoshi and Yoshi-fan).
Also interesting is amongst the Chinese fanbase the “yoshi p” of the Chinese side has actually approached yoshi p and said China is having a collective outcry about the fact that jobs like SMN with extremely high play rates have extremely low job satisfaction amongst the Chinese playerbase.I recall some EN forum folks has visited the JP forum and asked for more DPS option for healer, but a lot of JP folks pretty much object to it, and most of them are happy with the way healer are.

It’s hard to get a read on the Chinese playerbase and it’s even harder to know how much the dev team even cares about China (I’m assuming even less than EN) but yeah SMN and healers are their two biggest problems right now but they are almost diametrically opposite the JP playerbase in that “individual player agency” should take precedence over making every run smooth as butter which is JP’s general stance
China is a massive market though. I've been working on a mobile game in a small company for a while now, and recently we've been talking about seeking funding from investors over in the East, with my boss going to Japan next month to meet with a lot of people. China has a lot of restrictions because your game has to positively reflect Chinese Communist values. Having gay characters, for example, is something we'd need to censor at least in the Chinese version, because that's a huge no-no in China (annoyingly). That is of course if we decide to market in China, because doing so would give us access to a leviathan of an audience to market to. It's a question of do we want to deal with the headache of Chinese censorship if we're given the opportunity. Also interesting is amongst the Chinese fanbase the “yoshi p” of the Chinese side has actually approached yoshi p and said China is having a collective outcry about the fact that jobs like SMN with extremely high play rates have extremely low job satisfaction amongst the Chinese playerbase.

But we're a much smaller company compared to SE, so I have no idea how much they value the Chinese market for games.
What if I tell you that BL/Otome kinda run rampant within CN, LOLChina is a massive market though. Also, what mobile game you were working on? Is it okay for you to disclose?
The thing is, there's a line between designing content to be ran smoothly by players of differing skill levels and designing content to be soloable by WAR.It’s hard to get a read on the Chinese playerbase and it’s even harder to know how much the dev team even cares about China (I’m assuming even less than EN) but yeah SMN and healers are their two biggest problems right now but they are almost diametrically opposite the JP playerbase in that “individual player agency” should take precedence over making every run smooth as butter which is JP’s general stance
SE has taken a running leap and pole vaulted over that line onto a jet and now they're halfway around the world past that line.
With mediatour being cleared without healers before DT is out, I truly do hope for a mass healer shortage in DT. I want people to suffer and cry about it on forums, twitter and whatever JP playerbase uses to voice their complaints.
But YoshiP will probably perceive that as "bosses too difficult, must nerf" and just lower HP pool and such.
There's no hope for healers in this game.
No, they'll perceive it as healing is still too daunting and that tank and DPS players are still really scared of giving healers a try. With mediatour being cleared without healers before DT is out, I truly do hope for a mass healer shortage in DT. So the next logical step is to give every healer a permanent DoT and remove their filler spell so they can fully focus on healing without being distracted by those other things AND they still contribute to damage passively!
It can't be that most people just don't want to play support jobs and dumbing all support jobs down to appease those people is a futile effort, right? Nah, can't be, healers are just still too hard to play!
They’ll probably suggest people to use trust NPC instead.
Ofc, that won’t work on roulettes, but y’know what I mean lol.

You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."
