Its not a ward, its so simple.
Each city has 3 NPC's, these 3 NPC's represent 1 city nation, so you have a Uldah Market Guide NPC, a Gridania Market Guide NPC, etc, you can teleport between these freely, within the city, to buy stuff from the ward window.
To enter the ward itself you still have to do it the old fashion way, this means the "Buying" window will no longer be where it is now, at the wards, it will be on the NPC's.
The issue could have been that items that sell fast in bulks (shards) would not benefit from this because a ward would always have the most (Uldahs) and likely be more used, but if people can fly around fast to check all 3, then you can still be semi competitive with bulk-fast selling items.
I think it would have been better if the NPC's were stood next to each other tho, i've crashed several times using the intercity teleport, so i will be reluctant to use this lol.
You port at each Mercantile House, which is different than Market Wards, so no, you simply go to the other houses and buy items off the other Market Wards.
When you come back from the shop you'll still be in the same city as before =)
^ this
you have in the city you are in your normal market ward, but a mercantile house for the other two....but also you have stationed throughout any city market guides, who will "take" you to the market ward for that city. I assume instantly?
This is to combat the confusion that plagues many normal mmo player who open the map and go.....uhhh there is no auction house marked on the map....so I guess I go to the marked shops...uhh no can;t be those because they hardly sell anything....
Really this is just one more way of somehow trying to avoid what they just need to add a damn linked auction houses (even though I hate them) becuase that's what players are looking for when they start a new mmo....
Open my map...."ah there's the Auction house ....sweet....time to go buy some stuff..."
The market wards idea , like the armoury system had some good ideas....but very poor execution. Now it's just a huge confusion ball that might as well be linked auction houses.
I've always found your posts to be informative, well grounded and well thought through.Sooo with the new Lodestone posts http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/42956
Could a dev expand on this
"In addition to using the existing market area entrances, players will be able to speak with “market guides” around town to travel directly to each Mercantile House."
Rest of it is great though, I'm down with it.
You could in fact, say that I am a fan!
I have also been known to be satirical!![]()
This is mostly likely going to replace the Market wards in General Come 2.0. These are the New Auction houses.. Here's an Idea.. when we get player housing come 2.0 Can't we just place our Retainer in our House and people buy my Stuff Via Merchant House? That way it gives our homes a little more life having another Person in the House.
so i assumed that it would be located in the market wards
I'm moving my Cafe to Limsa... where all the good food ingredients are!
So this means there will be no more need to stay in Uld'ah? I can go back to Gridania now?

Oh wait, but everyone shouts in Ul'dah still and no world shout channel.
son of a ....
I approve of this change.
