RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

The porn section at my local Barnes and Noble is right next to the motorcycle and fitness magazines. There's not a beaded curtain or anything you have to go past to find it.

And brothels do advertise where prostitution is legal -- even in the U.S. --- including using the word brothel.

Half the people are talking about the ads being spam and half the people are talking about not wanting to read the content of certain kinds of ads. Those are separate concerns with separate solutions. What has frustrated me is when someone makes a suggestion to deal with the spam issue, it's met with disagreement by the people who really care about content. Content is a different and much, much more difficult problem to solve presuming you can even get agreement on it and given SE's track record of enforcement, I don't see that happening anytime soon. So maybe try and find a content-agnostic solution to the spam instead.

Girl please don't try to compare this game to Nevada lmao. That's the only place it's legal in the US (in specific counties as well) so it's not exactly a norm for the majority of the US to get solicited on the street.

I used to not care as much because at the end of the day, what people do behind closed doors is their business and my view on that still stands. When it's repeatedly shoved in my face in public areas, it's not cute...it's annoying. I don't care if people put it in the "Other" section, that can be filtered out. I care when I'm just trying to play a game I enjoy and have to see ads for "Creamy Experiences with Catgirls" lol. No one is trying to hide anything.

There should be a Social tab in the Party Finder to advertise these.
There should also be a calendar function where people can subscribe to event chains for these clubs and place this as a social board similar to market board in a central location in every city so all adverts go there instead of shout.

I'm on Mateus, which was described to me once as the center of debauchery. Ironically, I'm not seeing the level of 18+ shout spam that anyone has talked about. I've seen it, but the deluge that's been described just isn't there. I'm not claiming it's not that bad where you are, but it doesn't seem to be the same problem everywhere.

The problem with trying to control content is that it requires a process that allows for arguing a case lest someone who didn't realize they had crossed a very-difficult-to-define line. Companies have been loath to get into that because they know how difficult it is to adjudicate.

I'm also not keen on the idea of opening up that particular pandoras box of what forms of innuendo cross the line.

And finally, this isn't actual prostitution. No sex is taking place. It's at worst a sex talk line which is something that's legal everywhere in the U.S. and while gil is changing hands, money theoretically isn't. I'm not a fan of the ads, I don't partake of the "sex" clubs, but I also understand that once you start down this line, you need a really solid set of reasoning beyond, "it's just common sense" because everyone has different lines and different ideas and given how often people disagree about "common sense" it can't actually be that common.

I had to totally hide /shout because of that.
Every time I go to a city there's an ad for RP or FC, sometimes 3 messages long, sometimes in a langage I can't read.
Every time I open the Party Finder on Chaos there's 80% RP venues, sometimes 3 PF for the same RP venue so there's clearly fresh created chars to keep spamming PF in case they're blacklisted.
I don't care if people enjoy the game that way, but I don't want to be aware of that, it's supposed to be taboo for good reasons, and not only minors

It is. Feet pics chick aside that takes real cash for her photos, I've been solicited around two or three times over the last month or so by strangers with their carrd having actual USD values on them for video calls. It's not a "gil-only" thing anymore and hasn't been for a while. I'm sure once more people catch on that there's money to be made then that'll explode just like the club scene did.

Again, I don't care what people do in the privacy of their houses but I don't want/need to know the fetishes of the people around me without warning or any expression of interest. It is uncomfortable. I get it, I live on Crystal so maybe it's an assumption that people there are just into ERP (because it seems the vast majority is or is on the way there, look at Balmung and how two of our servers are known as sex hubs), but it's mind-blowing how there's a growing expectation from that community that anyone walking through a main city is just wanting to pick up a hooker at all hours of the day.

The venue advertisers have already started to change the way they advertise, including random symbols beside all the key terms that will be filtered out by people. This is most likely (definitely) a pre-emptive change they are making in attempt to claim "this is how we've always advertised I'm not doing anything wrong". We saw that coming, didn't we folks? While it is true that a couple advertisers would do this regularly, they always used the same symbol. There has been a significant increase of people doing it all of a sudden, using different icons/symbols. This is going to lead to a lot of things getting filtered out, which will bleed into normal chat being even further disrupted by being unable to see what people are actually talking about in the game, who aren't advertising. The term filter feature seems to be dead before arrival. This is just ridiculous.

What do you mean recently? Those symbols have been on the ads since at least the covid days. It's not a preemptive attempt at anything. It's done so that readers' gaze goes directly to that term.

Will they find a way to bypass the filtering? Sure, most likely. But the symbols isn't anything new for them.
