I respect that a lot of people don’t like RNG mechanics. It is entirely a preference, and that’s okay. Not every job should have RNG, but also, that doesn’t mean it should be erased either. I love RNg elements. I love gambler type characters, like Cait Sith in FF7 Rebirth, and I like Dancer even if it doesn’t quite scratch the itch I’m looking for in this game. There should be RNG jobs, they just don’t have to be every job. That’s why I hate the constant erasure of niche gameplay elements, like how Monk lost almost all of its positionals. Some people like positionals, so why aren’t they allowed to have monk?Healers would be much more fun if RNG Procs were more a thing on some, I don't think they would need a "standard" rotation, casters don't really have a combo path and i think healers should obviously take more inspiration from casters
I guess theirs also the topic of "rng is bad" which I disagree with, esp when it comes to things that change up how you play a job.
Astro is another example. Personally I value having unique card effects over RNG, so I think this new system is better than the one from before. But I absolutely think there’s room to reintroduce RNG elements, such as what order you draw those three cards in, and being forced to deal with them in that order.
Ah okay then, I guess SCH mains can rejoice they have a new DPS button to use... that's restricted to a 2 minute cooldown and will really just be a press and forget type of deal... almost like they had DOTS which needed management?
I would actually take a nerf to our pDPS on SCH to half chain’s CD then make the new dot 60 seconds so it’s designed to be up 100% of the time
Still boring but another 100% uptime DOT is pretty thematic in my opinion

I genuinely don't think anyone in this game ever wants to do more dps in exchange for less things to do and less interesting ways to do them. Like I find it hard to believe anyone would enjoy having a class that has a completely static, unintuitive and completely braindead rotation if it means just having the highest number. I would always take a nerf to damage if it meant actually enjoying myself. That's why people reassuring me that AST will be better bc 'malefic will probably deal more damage to account for cards being basically removed' just rings so hollow. I've never played a job bc it has the highest dps number. I've always played it bc it appeals to me from a combined visual and gameplay perspective.
I gave AST a shot, and it's still miserable to play, even to think about. Worst iteration by far. Praying for 8.0, I guess...
Maybe it's time we try to explain again why using Glarebroil every GCD is bad/boring. Same. If I wanted 'Malefic deal more damage to account for the lower RDPS' I have three other healers that have that gameplay, via Broil, Glare and Dosis (since they all have the same 30s DOT duration, there's very little that differentiates them all). In fact, I don't even care about 'more PDPS and less RDPS' aas some sort of trade, I'd happily take anything up to a 50% cut to our total output (from our raid buffs and our personal damage combined) if it meant having an actual rotation again. I'd genuinely rather have a max output of 4-5k on the 4 healers with a damage kit more akin to SB, than doing 8k as we do now, via pressing one button ELEVEN TIMES in a row.
