correct me if I am wrong please...
when this is taken into consideration with all your other topics, what you want is to lock people out of content based on in game currency or lack thereof?
all you would accomplish is.. making the in game gil bots get more customers. gil has no inherent value because it is an in game virtual currency. blocking content behind it would serve little useful purpose except to make the "elites" who can do it feel more important, enrich the gil sellers with real world money and lose players because of the added stress of turning FFXIV into... a job.
no thank you.
I don't want ff14 to become a game where I feel forced to grind gil because of it being hard to come by already had that in ff11 for the 75 era and don't want the game to become like runescape or wow where it's hard to make money in game and have to grind your life away for a subscription token or a glam or other in game item. All it would do is make people resort to rmt more and also cause high inflation of certain things compared to the ratio of getting gil if they restrict gil that you get. Runescape has such high inflation and gold has become so worthless that it gets harder to make and earn gold just to afford things like the subscription token and there is very few markets to make decent gold.

That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.
You're looking at your mountain of gil and think "I wish there was something I could do with it", but it simply means you want more content: whether or not it is gated behind having lots of gil would be meaningless to you since you already have the gil.this complaint is nothing new, but neither has anything been done about it. were still 3 years on from the first set of gil sinks and people have nothing to spend there money on. i have now accumulated 300Mil, but for all the worth it has, it might as well be 300gil.
And guess what, everyone always wants more content.
I'll take it off your hands since it's "worthless", but of course, you would cry bloody murder if you were relieved of it suddenly and we'd be seeing yet another thread from you.
Gil not really being worth the grind is just another revolving door of problems FFXIV has caused for itself involving stats and gear which is the basis for even needing money in MMO's (im including battle items that aren't really gear). The need to keep new players locked in > Dailies incentivized by Tombstones > Almost all gear worth using is via tombstones > Limited Trading > not being able to sell most gear via the AH > A focus on aesthetic pieces instead of gear > No real rare mob drops > and even if gear is tradable or sellable all the stats are insanely linear so you wouldn't need variants, etc. etc. etc. I think you get it.
And honestly Considering we have a companion, if there was more worth while open world content I think it would be cool to gear our chocobos too.

Pretty much this if they have so much gil that it's "worthless" they could give it away but then we would still see daily post from them complaining about something else like hyperinflation if the game implemented a system where it becomes a lifeless grind for gil and basic necessities become so expensive that people resort to rmt.
That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.
I stopped selling competitively in 4.2. Nice to be retired and not have to worry about gil. Put it in your mattress, sleep on it, pile it up and smile. Enjoy.
No, I don't have hours of time to farm
for virtual currency.
I have alredy experienced a game like that,
it was called [World of Warcraft]!
Forced to buy expensive pots or farm
-> just to do content(pve-raid).
