the aesthetic is a very poor choice, it doesn't read as fairy or tactician so it's a bit of a slap in face to just be thrown what seems like a poorly thought out repackaged dissipation dressed in inverse reaper enshroud without the fairy eating for aetherflow

Forget your own identity or even the job identity at large, every healer is a vacant same-faced placid girl in a dress. forever. This way none of you forget it. I think there's no where else to go for Scholar.

Literally miltary tactics, laws, magical writing, arcanima. There is arguably more of those in the SCH's kit since inception than fairy themes. I don't mind Fairy stuff as long as it stays in the corner, back when Eos and Selene were fairy shaped "constructs" that you imbued with life thanks to Arcanima. Remember Nym? Remember the war?

The conection to "fairies" of SCH is purely superficial. And I am tired of having this conversation every single expansion.

That being said I don't want the fairy to dissapear, the whole point of SCH is that the fairy heals and the SCH debuffs enemies and supports their troops. But of course as the "dps/utility" aspect of healers in general has been gutted in the past years, the only place to go with regards to design is the fairy.

I didn't become a SCH back in ARR because I wanted a pet fairy (Though the idea of tagging along a summon is neat). I wanted to play a cool military tactitian savant.

Unfortunately I think Yoshi-P painted the scholar into a corner with this. The fairy has been a part of the "identity" of the scholar since it's inception at level 30. While the Conjurer has this entire "nature-druid" type theme to them.
WHM - Nature (Air, Water, Earth)
AST - Stars/Astrology
SCH - Faerie aesthetic
SGE - Tech

If Sage didn't exist, I'd say yes, maybe this is a little confusing, but unless they want to retroactively change what White Mage and Scholar are, I think there's no where else to go for Scholar. The scholar has discovered the fairy, figured out her backstory, and become one with the fairy... kind of. Meanwhile this kind of transform seems more appropriate "to" the white mage, but there are no faerie aspects about them. There are some "aetherial"-like references in the ARR-HW tier magic (Holy, Tetragrammaton, Divine Benison) but then at level 70 it goes in another direction. Never mind all the whine about the lily system.

(I say this while playing White mage and running around wearing the Angel wings when not in duties)

What would have made sense is for that transform to have distinct "fairy" wings. It clearly isn't "angel wings" but it also isn't clearly fairy either (because it's been established that fairies have butterfly-style wings not bird-style wings.)

The original idea was that the SCH was the tactician(offensive magic, shields, later things like Chain Stratagem) and the fairy was direct healing or added offensive support. They obviously didn't forget one of core the Nymian visual themes(clockwork mechanisms) considering the super Art of War is all gears, so the Temperance/Lemure Shroud hybrid instead of something along those lines just seems odd. Sage's aesthetics are more like science fiction or magitech, so there isn't a significant amount of overlap.

The concept is fine. The appearance looks weird. Why doesn't it look like Seraph? Could even go for a Titania look to go with the fairy aesthetic.

I'm not sure how I feel about the transformation at all (though I can completely understand why people don't like it).
But If they want to go with a transformation it should be fairy themed imo (I'm already a bit unhappy about the whole Seraph situation - the angel idea just fits better with WHM).

I understand some people aren't happy about the fairy theme either because of scholar's war tactitian background but according to their lore scholars always had a double theme/identity iirc.
The war tactitian was a crucial part but so was the fairy, since she was the means/summon/tool/partner (however you want to see her) employed/commanded by those very war tactitians to defend Nym in the legendary way they did.

I'd rather have them put more work into tying those two aspects closer together instead of disjointing them even further. Even if Seraph is technically an "upgrade" or "true form" of our fairy (pls correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm just going off what I remember without checking rn) it just felt too random to me because it just crosses over too far into WHM's aesthetical territory.

I love how they opened the jobs changes with "made adjustments based on feedback" and did their thing anyway. I guess it could be internal feedback, that would explain a lot actually...

I can't wait for the feedback on the forum to to absolutely nothing like always.
