I have been reading that the problem at least for NA players is that DEBIT CARDS are not being accepted. Regular Visa is still going through fine.

For those of us in NA we at least have the chance to use Paypal if we do not have a regular Visa. For other countries it gets really messy.

Edit: I just tested. I tried to add a retainer to my account (which had successfully renewed after the change with my Debit card) and everything borked up. I changed from a debit card to an actual Visa and it went through no problem. So for NA people having a problem it looks like it is DEBIT CARDS even though it says you can use them.

Yeah from what I been reading it seems to be debit cards mostly having issues but also heard of some people having issues with credit as well. I bought crysta with a debit card before the update and haven't tried paying a sub yet after the processor changes to see if I get any issues.

There's no conspiracy, their sites and online services are simply awful. Have you ever tried submitting a ticket for anything?? It makes bank and government websites feel modern in comparison, it's pathetic.

I'm live in SEA, and I think my debit card doesn't work anymore, but a prepaid card does work as I'm testing it working. So, if you live in SEA, you might want to use e-wallets that have prepaid card or virtual cards like I do.

Now I have no proof, evidence, facts or even experience to support any of any of what I say, and proof 'does' matter. (I've never been on JP region, I just have gossip and hearsay). But if you are asking for 'theories' to justify the 'revenue' argument... this could be one theory.

Having actually played on a JP server since ARR, I can tell you that the JP players are in no hurry to unsub because of people speaking english in their servers. In fact, the language you speak doesn't even come up unless you're wiping the party and the JP players have to tell you how to stop doing that.

It's not the xenophobia most people paint it as, it's just people wanting to communicate with other people in their party. It's like when EU players who only speak english get frustrated when trying to communicate with another EU player that only speaks french.

If SE is smart and think in a modern way (I know, will probably never happen), they will merge Oceanic server with SEA "server" (could be just that current Oceanic is modified to include both regions). And treat this new region as the officialy supported region. Thats money right there. And then they can also focus on this particular region for its payment method. Ideally each region should have multiple payment methods adjusted based on the region for the convenient of players.

But what do I know... instead they removed support for VISA debit card? Like... what? One of the most common payment method in the world and you removed it? And we are 2 months away from a new expansion? Thats a 500 IQ move if I ever seen one. I like the game and the devs but the company is outdated and stupid.

My guess is you missed the posts from them indicating this is a known issue with Visa debit and they are working on it.
