I actually love the changes. Made me go back to au ra after seeing just how beautiful they have become. Like ethereal beauties for real. For me, the changes are solid. Just my opinion.

I'm not face 2 but I stand in solidarity because Square gave my face 4 your dimples. And I'd really like to give them back so I can go back to being more sharp and threatening looking and you guys can get your cute mouth shape back.

Mine definitely isn't what I'd call ethereal. But I also wasn't going for ethereal, and I think a lot of people didn't associate the face with ethereal. I think a lot of people got youthful and sweet. Big, round downturned eyes, full pouty lips, their emotes and body language is quite youthful. In another thread I did another before and after of my main:

And then I photoshopped some minor changes that I felt could help. I didn't do as much as I could or wanted, as I didn't want to dedicate too much time in photoshop to give a point:

I softened the eyeliner, enhanced the catchlight, pinked the lips some, added more shading under the lips, added a smidge more dimple as that would've involved a little more drawing on my end. I lightened the scales, again, I'd have had to do more drawing to show what I was imagining. I also added more gloss and a bit more cupids bow to the lips. I'd have added more shape in the shading between the lips to emphasize it, but again, I was pressed for time.

Hello fellow Face 2 Au Ra!

Thank you so much everyone for sharing your views here - I agree with so much of this! I'm with the majority of people here who really dislike the new lips. The Face 2 Au Ra always has such a friendly, youthful vibe and the cute dimples are such a big part of the look.

Now my character looks as if she is permanently puckered up or has a "duck face" and it's saddening to see. As other posters have said, it also makes the smile look more sarcastic/less genuine than before, which is such a shame.



Even just adding the lips back (see the comparison GIF below) makes her look much more like herself. I would greatly appreciate this being revised and the mouth being brought back to how it currently is in-game!

I'm just commenting here to show my support for Au'ra Face 2 touch ups.

I don't like that it's looks extremely similar to face 1 now. I really want the plump/pouty lips and roundness in a lot of the features back.

Another face 4 Au Ra here to petition to trade face 2's dimples back- please, take them from my lizard, she looks so strange with them. Out of curiosity, I made Cirina in the benchmark character creator:

She looks so strange without her distinct mouth.

I think I know what is also attributing to the eyes looking different. It's the natural default bottom lashes and how they taper. The inner corner of the bottom lashes is thickest/darkest, while in the old model it comes to a taper with it being heaviest about 3/4 of the way in.

Did you just color correct them or did you also add a smidge of blur? Because whatever you did both makes them look more cohesive AND lessens the "printer pager" feel that had bugged me before.

I posted this to the main Au Ra thread but figure since it has some Face 2 specific stuff I'd put it in here as well in case that makes devs' lives easier (because hope springs eternal they want to help shine up our fish girls)

I realized on lunch break that part of what bugs me is how unfinished our lizards feel so I made some quick edits. I will separate them into what I would think would be quick fixes/universal (adding pixels of color/changing color opacity) versus specific resculpts.



**Quicker fixes**
1) White Freckle at 2 o'clock on the iris - Have it toggle on/off in other features like eye liner. Lets people have dead eyes if they want or toggle this on to force a little life into the eyes. The positioning would also work to hide it when squinting or doing that malevolence emote.
2) Smaller pupil - Top is marginally smaller, bottom is way smaller. This is waaay lower priority for me but helps the eyes pop since it seems like most of us lizards choose colorful eyes.
3) Reduce opacity of the lip color AND lipstick color along the lip line in the outer thirds of the mouth - It helps to reduce the weird pursing of lips look as well as how the lipstick looks like quickly applied matte liquid lipstick in the benchmark. Could tie the slight fade on the outer edges of the lipstick to the soft color only and leave bold as is for those who want a boldly defined lip color. If you google gradient lips or BJD doll lips you'll get an idea of the coloration (and again I would say only do that on the outer thirds of the lips, specifically at the lipline and very soft/not aggressive) but it really helps to make the lips look less flat without needing to QA gloss lighting.

**More involved suggestions, these are more specific to Female Aura Face 2**
4) Widen the lips themselves
5) Reintroduce the M shape to the line of the mouth - This one really helped bring a LOT of the life back into the mouth.
6) Extend the line of the mouth past the lips more - aka the dimples. Let our fish lizards have their big fish lizard mouths, please.
