You never really need to buy gear in this game. Tombstone gear is always available at level 50 and above, and going through ARR, you get all the gear you need from quests and dungeons.

I don't get why people selling things on the market board need to put the price very high. It's not actual money, it's virtual money on the MMO... Why do you greed the money on the MMO so much? It makes people who can't craft or don't want to craft have to pay so much money to buy even basic basic gear. Why not put the price lower so more people can buy? Think of it as compassion, and don't be so greedy.

For you, and the other person complaining about the Market Board.

You are not entitled to use it. The Market Board is not a right, it is an alternative to cut down the time on acquiring items yourself.

Prices do not have to be accessible for lazy players or new players because this game is designed to need gil for little to nothing other than transports and you're given so many free routes to gear your classes simply by playing content.

Don't have enough time IRL, so what? That is still not the MarketBoard's problem. You can do a 20 minute expert a day and get currency to turn in for gear for free.

They have nerfed crafting and gathering into the ground so that it is more accessible to every player. They have literally destroyed the gear market in order to ensure people had the ability to be self-sufficient.

If you want to be lazy, pay the lazy tax. The problem is not the MB as it exists today, but your entitlement to think you can roll up and buy a set of gear for a price you prefer.

If you don't like it, go start leveling your DOH/DOL and craft them yourself.

You're the greedy selfish one here. People don't exist to ensure you dont have to earn the things you want.

FF14 provides your warriors and mages with good equipment, even if you ignore the market and have no crafters and gatherers.

You also have the option of using the demand cube to get dropped gear for the profession you are playing.

I've met some players who don't like crafting or gathering in FF14. They do this and basically never buy gear.

Gatherers and crafters have many advantages:
I can relax while gathering and crafting.
I get to know the area while gathering.
I also enjoy levelling collectors and crafters.
I became a triple-digit gillionaire in FF14.
I can buy expensive mounts and pets.
I can make a complete set of equipment in just a few hours, even if I have to collect everything first.

Crafters and collectors have one disadvantage: the inventory in FF14 is too small. This forces you to constantly switch back and forth between your own inventory and the inventory of your companions. You have to be able to tidy up.

Because at least some players are willing to pay the new higher prices, even if you are not.
That's why fifty cents of paint on a couple of dollars of canvas can sell for millions of dollars IRL.
That's how markets work.

The prices for most things are already cheap when you compare it to older expansions, even just crafted gear cost you a fortune in both HW and SB.

For some, the game is to make as much money as possible.

Isn't this a result of tomes being used for the manderville weapons instead of dumping them on crafting mats like in previous expansions?

Partially.

It's not just the endgame gear, though. Some people are trying to get rich off leveling gear with the current high demand from all the new players. Road to 80 and other XP boosts mean new characters are going to have to rely on crafted gear if they want gear appropriate to their job level instead of MSQ level. Tomestones aren't much help when you don't have the vendor unlocked yet.

Except when it's not because you don't have sufficient MSQ progression.

You also generally only get enough gear for one job. If someone is leveling multiple jobs, they need to find a source for the extra jobs.

You're right, the market board prices are really high in my personal opinion. I think we're also seeing a boost of engagement with Xbox players, so the demand may be higher these days with more players. As far as currency, I've played for about 5 years now, sadly crafting is the best route for making millions of Gil overnight, casually labeled as Market Board Ultimate.

I set my price at 80%, because I don't want to be so greedy and contribute to the problem, but I can't make EVERYTHING I need or it would take days XD

Maybe you should've priced your items higher so you could afford to buy gear and pots.
