Is it okay to advertise for groups that go out and kill stuff? I mean, like most adventurers do. And what most of the game has us doing.Advertising rp versions of things that are illegal irl shouldn't be happening. If it was a trend to advertise rp drug dens that wouldn't go over well, might lead to little kids getting curious about drug use and then they go down a rabbit hole etc. That's a pretty bad influence for young and impressionable minds. Just like courtesan advertising, some little girl could think that it's ok to ... Y'know. That can't fly here. Adults need to be more responsible and considerate about their activities in public places.
Or might that cause little kids to get curious about killing people and go out on a murder rampage?
is killing monsters in a video game the same as some grown person asking a kid to do erp? what's with all the braindead takes in this thread, wtf is wrong with you people o.O

The thing is no is making the kid do anything.
Certainly the adults partaking in this behavior should be more cognizant of the ages of people they may be interacting with, but that issue goes both ways. Kids will be kids and many will reach that age where they are curious about that stuff, which is all the more reason their guardian should be more hands on with their time spent in this game and many others.
I don't think that should be an excuse to give a free pass for people to be lewd with minors, but it's not solely the responsibility of the adults to tip-toe around constantly or even be outright barred from adult activities just because minors may be present or weasel their way into adult venues. It's a collective effort to make sure everyone is more responsible for their own actions, the adults of both parties and the kids, too.
I already asked this the last time this thread was postedThe thing is no is making the kid do anything.

what do people want exactly ? when X person does ERP with Y, X should ask for Y's ID ? Maybe a a birth certificate too while we're at it ? Like there is literally nothing SE or the players can do if minors want to do ERP and actually do it, ID's could be faked, the minor can lie about their age (just like at irl clubs with fake ID's)
there's no solution lol

I never said there was a solution.I already asked this the last time this thread was posted

I just said everyone needs to be more aware and smart about what they are doing. Adults shouldn't have to stop ERPing or whatever just because minors play this game, but they do need to be more aware of the possible repercussions of their actions. Ultimately the majority of the responsibility really needs to fall to the guardians of these minors, and even then all the preparation, discussion and monitoring you do won't stop a curious kid from doing what they want.
Honestly I think the whole situation isn't a terribly big deal, but of course every time I say something that I get called a groomer apologist or something equally stupid, but whatever. Sometimes I think we forget the trouble we got ourselves into as teenagers, too. Certainly some of us have had long-lasting repercussions related to those events, and I don't want to downplay those who have, but the vast majority of us came out of our rambunctious teenage years unscathed, and so will those in this game.
Ultimately it's a mountain out of a molehill, and the situation is inherently complicated, too. Everyone just needs a little more personal responsibility.
The solution is to cut down on the ads period or even do what other MMOs have done and make a seperate Advertisement channel for them that people can turn off and anything being posted outside of it will be removed instantly by the games systems and reportable. That way parents can keep kids and children safe and people who dont wanna see it don't have to. Stop the strawman bs.I already asked this the last time this thread was posted

The children this, the children that.
There can't seriously be that many teenagers play XIV at this point? I've been playing the game since I was 17 and the crowd I've met around my age is just non-existent.
I know OP mentions having a 14 year old daughter but there's just so many other problems besides the people on the game. People on the internet are generally just disturbing at times, let's just put it that way. If you're not looking over your kids shoulders when they're using the internet early on then you can't really be surprised at what they find. I had definitely seen and been told far worse than what OP's daughter had by that age and that was with strict parents that attempted to monitor most everything I did online. I still found ways around it for better or worse.
Also, just kind of strange to hear about someone actually going to their parent for an explanation of something. Maybe it was just me or my friends, but you either googled it or asked each other. Going to your parents with something like that is asking for trouble usually.
I'm not defending the community's lack of boundaries but the entire story just feels weird. Either spend more time looking after your kids or just accept that they're going to run into some messed up stuff out there.
Again, in the Venue scene and many sub communities in XIV, you'd be surprised how many underaged kids you find, it's a part of why I stopped working in Venues myself. Too many issues where suddenly someones being accused of grooming, a kid was being an escort, someone was hitting on a kids who was trying to ERP. And it's so quickly sweapt under the rug or brushed aside, or said players change their names that it's ignored and forgotten about and any relevant info one may have is useless now.So this is the one thing that keeps popping up.

A lot of people don't wanna admit to it, but it's a thing. And as much as I would like to think everyone I run into is abover at least 21, it's better to assume it's a minor pretending and avoid any real issues until I can be sure it's an adult I'm talking to, which is also not easy in RP. Now take that, add in venues, easy ways to make gil and young kids wanting attention, with it being easy to get in these places, and bam.
And no one has to believe me, but I know what I've seen and how common place it is.
you really think underage kids should be exposed to this kinda stuff? you really gonna sit hear and seriously say it can be the kids fault or that the parent should be in alert 24/7 in fear of some goober being a pervert? what is making you excuse such behaviors? imagine being banned if you use damage meters and not for asking kids to do erp and people like you coming up with any mental reason they can fathom to excuse it, holy smokes. it's honestly pretty simple, you either ban anyone who makes any sort of 18+ ad or make the game 18+ if you want this weird ahh behavior to be part of your game. The thing is no is making the kid do anything.

I never said the SHOULD be exposed to it, but I don't think it's the end of the world if they are. The whole "save the children" spiel is tired and pointless. The fact of the matter is minors are exposed to this stuff everywhere they go. There comes a point where you realize it is fruitless to try to stop or ban it. Only thing you can do is try to educate your children and let them make their own decisions and their own mistakes.you really think underage kids should be exposed to this kinda stuff? you really gonna sit hear and seriously say it can be the kids fault or that the parent should be in alert 24/7 in fear of some goober being a pervert? what is making you excuse such behaviors? imagine being banned if you use damage meters and not for asking kids to do erp and people like you coming up with any mental reason they can fathom to excuse it, holy smokes. it's honestly pretty simple, you either ban anyone who makes any sort of 18+ ad or make the game 18+ if you want this weird ahh behavior to be part of your game.
I think trying to go all puritanical and ban adults from enjoying the game in their own way, in private, is an exercise in missing the point. A minor being exposed to the adult community in this game is not something worth being so upset about.
