    Are there any inconveniences you miss from XIV's history in these past 13 years?

    I'm referring to certain elements of the game which have been pretty much phased out or "dealt with" via updates and whatnot over the course of this game's life.

    Thought came to mind the other day that, role-play aside, people don't really hang out outside dungeon entrances anymore. One of my fondest experiences in this game was waaaay way early on in the 2.0 beta, before Duty Finder was a thing, when people just hung out by a dungeon's entrance and asked to join parties. I do feel like this helped the world feel a tad more alive, like there were some other adventurers out there trying to tackle X or Y dungeon. Yep, a lot of this is just sheer nostalgia hahah.

    I referred to them as "inconveniences" because some of them pretty much were. Needing to go to a dungeon's entrance and manually pick out a party sounds almost a "romanticized" version of the experience to me, but it is ultimately an inconvenience when we have our present, much efficient system in place with the DF. Still, part of me wishes to go back to those days, because it is those quirks and imperfections in the system that helped make some good memories.

    Inconvenient or not, feel free to list whatever defunct feature (or lack thereof) you miss, even if a little.

    Mana shift, basically Stormblood quality rotations, raise on PLD even if mostly for show, Protect added more occasion to the fight, 1.0 graphics and character physics, So... so much. What we have works, but is no longer special. Hate management. quelling strikes and lucid reducing aggro. There was so much more personality to the fights before.

    I will forever remember being a BLM and hitting lucid dreaming the moment the tank died in a raid so they'd kill the Sam or whoever was next up on hate. Good times.

    I miss their attempt at correctly using the Z axis

    For all its messiness and the occasional time you zoned into a instance where nael was just immortal rivenroad is still my favourite fight this game has ever given birth to

    What I wouldn’t give to play the true rivenroad again

    I miss the zones being big and connected, even if the long bridges to get out of Limsa and Gridania were just to obfuscate a loading time I liked walking across them.

    Give me back my Sylphlands shenanigans, darn it! I'll trade you some of the umpteen interaction points in the Ahm Araeng mines and the unskippable conversation with Jeryk about whether he should use a hammer or a wrench to tighten a loose bolt.

    Just cross-class actions. They kinda needed to go, they were jank and grindy, but it was fun to remove your soul crystal and transform your class into a completely different playstyle of your own creation, similar to how blue mages do now.

    This was always common in MMORPGs before duty finders. But I have actually experienced it post-Duty Finder.

    A lot of people will quickly teleport to a city or housing estate after unlocking the dungeon, but often if you wait outside the dungeon and /shout a request to form a party for the dungeon, you can get some people to join you. I used to do it all the time before I could do the dungeons with Duty Support, because I wanted it to be a blind run. So getting the people waiting outside the dungeon would allow me to know they were doing it blind. Often, if you queue at the same time as the person waiting outside of the dungeon, it puts you together anyway.

    I still do it for raids such as Pandaemonium. Just wait outside then /shout a PF for anyone who wants to join it blind.

    They tried it with Eureka's large-scale raid, BA. It was quite a disaster, forcing everyone to use discord to participate in it, when almost everything else in the game could just be queued for or at least have a Party Finder group form. So after that, we got a queue system for CEs in Bozja and a DF queue for DR.

    lol yeah see the difference is I mean something like a 4-man party just gathering outside a dungeon, not a whopping 24+ people trying to coordinate opening the gates of hell.

    Cross Skills were more interesting than Role Skills, which are soulless garbage
    I miss when fights had big set pieces like in Stormblood with its crazy mid-raid minigames.
    I miss a lot of removed skills from the game that were generally not replaced with anything or replaced with significantly worse things.

    Cross class skills were a good example of the illusion of choice. Yeah there were a lot of options but if you intended to play with a group in any content then the skills you took were already decided by the meta.
