Do you really think that it's realistic for the WoL to actually part ways with the handful of people that they've been literally bleeding together almost since they started adventuring, and that even sacrificed their own existence for them? Moreover, the Scions are supposed to be some of the strongest/most skilled normal beings only after the WoL, as well as very useful in the knowledge and networking fronts. Would it be a good idea for the WoL to not go adventuring with the people that not only they trust (no pun intended) and care about, but that have been generally reliable in several fields when needed? I know that I wouldn't be able to leave buddies like those behind when/if they would like to come with me on a new adventure, even if I like some of them more than others.

The Scions are basically the WoL's party in the traditional FF sense. Of course they're going to be around when the big stuff happens. That doesn't mean that new and interesting characters can't be introduced to add freshness for the story, but it's inevitable that most of them will likely rotate once the overall story setting changes. However, some might stick around with the main group, like Alisaie, G'raha and Krile did.

Anyway, let's wait and see how this little competition in the new world will turn out. It might be fun to play against them instead of with them, and it can add a new perspective into the Scion characters for once. I expect that the group will only really get together once the second part of the story is revealed.

You're telling me that a heavily story-based game didn't decide to ditch all of its main characters for no reason?? Why would anyone expect that

I like the Scions as much as the next guy, and while I don't want the devs to get rid of the Scions altogether, I do wish they'd take a step back and allow us to form a different group over time, y'know, bring something fresh to the picture. I suppose at least here we'll be pitting some Scions against each other... safe though it sounds.

I love hanging out with the Scions. They are the crew and I knew we wouldn't be leaving them behind because it's even stated in EW that their dissolution is fake. We can meet new people while hanging out with old friends. Plus, while I know the story won't permakill my character, having a group of people I care about traveling with me who fall over themselves to make noble sacrifices adds tension to the story because G'raha might toss himself into the nearest rift at any moment and that's my husband.

I liked Zero. I think the moral of her story failed to stick the landing because it was weakly supported. Golbez had been working with others the entire time. Why is the moral here the importance of teamwork? He had a team. And while Zero is supposed to be a selfish person in a world full of selfish people, she runs a refugee camp. We had nothing to seriously teach this woman.

The most I heard about Zero was the desire to eat her for a power up. People were hoping she was our shard so that we could consume her and get closer to being an Ancient and I'm like, wait, how is this super wrong when the Ascians were doing it, but now you want to do their plan, but just for you? Make yourself the only god and screw everyone else?

So glad she wasn't our shard and we didn't eat her.

I don't think they've ever made the implication that they were going to phase out the scions. That said, I would like new characters that are going to actually stick around for longer than one expansion, and ones that aren't the well-spoken, scholarly types we've had for ages now.

As much as I do like the scions, I worry how much more development the writers are going to try (or not try) to squeeze out of them. They're beginning to feel a bit robotic, and I'd like new, mainstay characters that are more down-to-earth and don't give a thesis with every sentence they speak. Zero wasn't scholarly or emotional, but she was well-spoken and literally robotic by design, so she didn't really hit the mark for me. Vrtra felt like an actual human with emotions and made mistakes, but didn't feel like he had much time or reason to develop as a character or have an arc, and I doubt we'll see him again for quite a while.

I want characters that falter and learn and grow again. Give me a big, lovable, well-meaning meathead of a character, please, and have them actually stick around and have development.

I think the idea was that Golbez with his four Elemental Fiends followed the logic of the Void, where everyone is disposable and all interactions based on some sort of exchange. Everyone on the "team" was ultimately out for themselves, even Golbez' idealistic dream of saving his world was decidedly his own.

Zero's refugee camp collected Voidsent akin to dust that settles under your couch it just happened with time and not explicitly. But it was a sign that she may have retained some of her humanity along with her literal humanity no? In any case, I loved her Voidsent model, wish they had used it more.

So glad she wasn't our shard and we didn't eat her.

I would like to leave behind Alisaie but I know that's never going to happen.

The Scions feel like a set of truly hypercompetent people. This isn't to say that they're perfect, they still have character flaws n whatnot... but their level of expertise in each of their areas does, honestly, make me a bit bored. I feel like this is why I kinda like some of those lower class quests, where it feels like you're surrounded by comparatively more mundane people who just can't do **** and must struggle to overcome these limitations. As you might correctly assume, I am also rather fond of the "Team B" Scions, that is, Hoary Boulder, Coultenet, etc...

I also get the distinct feeling like their arcs are "done." Like you said, I don't know how much more the writers can squeeze out of them. They have self-actualized to the point of stability. They recognize that they each have their flaws but they face them head on. My issue here is that... it doesn't really seem to be getting more interesting from that point on.

People like familiarity and consistency. Its a type of comfort where you can come back later and the characters are still there.

If you want to retire those characters, you need to do so slowly, all the while introducing new characters. Then later you bring those retired characters back for the short term instances.

If you try to do it suddenly with a character that is now out the picture with little explanation, it makes that piece of entertainment feel less interesting to those people, and in turn makes people hate the new characters who they see as taking their place.

lets be real, we all gonna set out solo till someone is oppressed and Alisaie hyas to step in, then we wil need an ancient magic to help so here comes Yish, then we will need passage to the magice threw hostel lands so Uberdanger will come to tell us their ways, Graha was stalking us from the shadows the hole time, and Estinen herd there were things to batman pose by, and alphy knew we needed fire wood so he is along too....

i wish we could of lost some of the cast in EW like we were meant to, but the devs backed out because loosing a virtual character that has become predictable and stale is apparently to traumatic for the ff fan base..

i swear we cant have a story with stakes because yall are on here everyday going "If i LoOsE a SiNgLe ScIoN iLl MiNeCrAfT MySeLf!!!"
the fan base needs to grow up with the story.
