I swear if there's Allagan ruins on this Island Sanctuary and that's what's uncovered in the final quest line I will scream in wearily expected rage

I mean, someone did once point out to me the weirdest thing about the Island Sanctuary, that does seem very fun in retrospect: The cave very clearly has fossils in it. Yet we know that Etheirys isn't exactly a world whose history facilitates the existence of it.

So, was there a form of normal Earth history that permitted the evolution and extinction of dinosaurs? Or did one of any number of godlike creatures put the fossils there to test us!?
