Same model different color scheme is still more than same box and look since it's first appearance. It would be like if cars still looked like a model T and only came in black.

Different situation though, because it's meant to be one consistent (and recently invented) device that you're using in combination with an assortment of guns you've acquired from other sources.

To continue your car analogy, it's not that all cars ever manufactured look like Model T, rather that it is the equivalent of 1908 and you have a new and shiny Model T that you are using all the time.
