I think SE needs to reflect on what other mystery dungeon games do that makes their gameplay loop/design formula work and why people enjoy dungeon crawling games if they want Deep Dungeons to be improved upon or become a bigger hit with players. personally? I think they need to take a few pages out of Spiral Knights' book with how varied its floors can get with locations, structure, rudimentary puzzles/obstacles, enemy design, etc. despite all of its ridiculous RNG/time based grinding, the game still has an addicting gameplay loop because you can just pick a zone to see how far you can get, and still come home with something even if you die or fail to reach the end.

in other words, it needs a tad more basic dungeon crawler/roguelike design, players need more incentive to keep going at it other than exp because wiping in DDs is incredibly demotivating. Saraide already mentioned the idea of bringing over a lost action/essence system, and I think that can work really well if its implemented to make players play more to unlock more, like your average roguelike. even if you die, you can still amass actions/essences so you can prepare better for future runs. a better reward structure in general so it feels more connected to end game would be appreciated, too, such as being able to get augment coins and all that.
