*subs again*You're forgetting the best part: it lets us play other games. For just $13 a month, we can play all the other games we want (sold separately). Casuals love playing other games, and FFXIV is the best MMO for that. You don't even have to log in anymore. Isn't that fantastic?
Yep. You see, the most important part of Final Fantasy XIV isn't the game itself. It's the fact that you're on the right side of history. WoW is on the wrong side of history. Being anti-FFXIV is wrong. We don't like WoW. We're the best MMO right now and everyone should switch to FFXIV so they can play other games.
Honest question, what keeps you subbed?
Endwalker has been one of the best expansions for demonstrating how many players are susceptible to gaming addictions. They keep saying the game is bad and yet they still can't walk away from it.

It's basically the opposite. Raids are the same as normal but with two ultimates + Savage Criterion. Meanwhile Island Sanctuary for casuals is a spreadsheet simulator, the WoW crowd has already long left since Dragonflight is actually good, the adventurer plates are a buggy mess, relics are a shadow of their former self, AND no exploratory zone to keep people engaged with the game.
The best for casuals because they hate playing the game?

it's mid for casuals and great for raiders (2 ults)
hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
Are we back to arguing the definition of casual vs hardcore? And I thought it was midcore that were the ones that lost out....

I'm sorry... what? You're telling me that it was one of the best because there was nothing to do and new players received revamped content and that's it?Adventurer Plates is the best thing ever, we got a lot of dope casual glams thanks to Island Sanctuary, Data Center travel allowed people to go wherever the fuck they want (and made Balmung be what it is today), free trial up to Stormblood, a lot of the old fights and dungeons were rewamped and are actually good now and on top of that the WoW exodus brought a lot of new players to the game.
Casual here, it was the most boring expansion this game ever had, 4.5 months between "major" patch is far too much and the msq that started with 6.1 was hand down the worst story i experienced in this game and felt more like a fan fiction.
Uh, pure casuals have probably been the worst off.
The thing with what you've mentioned is the amount of engagement in, say, Island Sanctuary is very minimal at best. It's something they've trucked rewards into, and the only requirement is to engage with it once or twice per week for the sum time of 90 minutes at best depending on your island inventory.
They could be forgiven for it being a learning curve for trying to nail down on recreational content like this (Just as they had a curve with exploratory content for several expansions), but there's just so many systems that we have in the game that could have been utilized, and IMO should have been utilized but simply weren't.
It's well and good going "AMAZING!! There's all these rewards, OMG" - This amounts for very little if the underlying gameplay isn't there, frankly.

Don't know where I stand here, wouldn't say im hardcore or casual... but right now i mainly just do casual things with friends as it's the only semi enjoyable thing right now. (I'm not really that into hardcore content currently, although I've done harder fights in the past, SHB i actually had more of a interest in it)
I really couldn't disagree more, infact this expansion just has nothing to do other then boring dungeons which don't even damage you anymore or let you pull... Jobs are getting easier, which on paper wouldn't hurt casuals right? No I like jobs being complicated, the progression of getting better in dungeons/raids. Interesting rotations/abilities getting better slowly at a certain job was fun. Not to mention if you get synched down to ARR or HW, it feels even worse with each expansion from the lack of abilities you have.
You don't even have any casual grinds anymore, once you beat the MSQ it's just do daily content then afk in limsa or make your own content like night clubbing or role play, At least SHB had Bozja, something that's not for me, but i know a bunch of people really liked it.
If anything at least Raiders got their Ultimates and savage raids, but I don't think many hardcore raiders are really that happy about a lot from what I've heard, we both deserve better content and better job design at the end of the day, If somethings easy to play but hard to master it's more fun, we need more Varity as well when it comes to designs of jobs.
