The game doesn't really give you much opportunity or reason to learn your full heal toolkit..
Because the dmg output is low in most content.. from early to late levels..
So when thing do hit hard.. they have no idea how to deal with it.

I heard good healers all quit because it is boring.
Honestly I found myself enjoying much healers much more in general when I stopped worrying so much about maximising everything like it’s some ‘log run’. Like I’d obsess about stuff like ‘oh no I used an Aetherflow heal instead of Energy Drain, my 100 potency!’ or ‘I had to use Adloquium/Succor instead of Broil, SOS’. When really, overall it’s actually better overall to worry less about ‘maximising’ everything, since outside of a specifically built party it’s not going to happen anyway. Plus, losing an Energy Drain really is nothing compared to having to use a gcd heal in the long run anyway. Honestly I even rarely use Dissipation for dps (or for healing lol). Not that I don’t get that it’s optimal, I just prefer having more freedom with using fairy skills if/when they’re needed. I mean, it’d be a different story if it also affected non-spell healing or actual damage output beyond ‘an extra Broil’, but that’s for another thread lol.
As for the ‘logging’ thing it doesn’t really make sense to me why they’re so against having their own form of actual metrics because surely it’s much easier to ‘police’ if it’s first-party? But the way they’ve set it now basically makes that impossible lol. Plus, as a PS5 player it really annoys me that I have to rely on other players to actually know anything about these metrics, despite the game literally being designed around them. Even if it was just something simple like a striking dummy that says ‘you did X damage/dps overall’ with a PvP-style thing showing much you done. I’d take it over nothing lol.
I think they got almost hit as hard as healers???? No aggro management, no positioning etc etc.I really don't see why healer kits have to be designed around bad players? We don't see tanks gets their offensive kit ripped to shreds because some of them are bad at pressing defensives. I saw a WAR die to the buster today because he didn't use CDs, should we remove IR and replace it with more defensive CDs?
Exactly. That’s what I’m saying. Sometimes you just have to use a gcd. I don’t understand why some healers just avoid it like the plague. It’s baffling to me. I don’t like to press mines either and would rather broil spam but I do what I gotta do so we can get the clear. That fight is long and annoying if you keep wiping especially because of lack of heals.I will say though, this current extreme does cluster more damage instances together than normal, so you won't always have, say, Sacred Soil up for everything. If someone doesn't plan properly, there will be dead zones where they have nothing, and if they refuse to dip into GCD healing, then the party's going to have a bad time.
Idk why its something about ast/whms that they literally tend to rely on the sage/sch to do all the healing, and yes while sage specially at least for me is not really costing much for doing it id like to get a breather jesus, but then again atm IMO whm atm is in a crises of having poor mp management with assize/thin air nerf. I can die as a sage and easily get back 5k+ mp in like 10 seconds. also as an ex ast main I use aspected healios + horoscope alot cause I cant stand just using the small 200 potency one. Ast atm technically with lucid/draw/astrodyne and hell celestial really is a infinite mp machine so they really shouldng have no excuse why not to gc sometimes if celestial/earth is on cool down. Hence people complaining about heal bots yet glare bots are just as or even more worst as dead people do=0 dps and at that point the heal bot maybe doing more damage than the glare bot.Exactly. So..the latest EX is harder or easier than Golbez EX?
hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
Such a conundrum for me.
I'm a Party Finder raider and while I know the only healer I'm interested in (AST) is the hardest one, it's always a struggle whenever I try to run it, because I simply can't trust my co-healer.
I think part of the 'healer A tends to chad healer B' issue is 'delayed effects'. How many times have you, as WHM/AST, seen your cohealer dump something while your regen was ticking, your Asylum down, your Star charging? Likewise, how many times have you had Panhaima on people ready to expire and heal them up, only for the coheal WHM to blast Plenary Rapture and overheal like mad?
When we're in PF we cannot necessarily trust that our cohealer 'got this one', so we just play as if we're the solo healer because it's safer that way. And then because of all of these healers who 'play it safe', certain other healers get into the mentality of 'well they'll overheal everything anyway' and so they focus more on doing damage
