If that doesnt get you to heaven, then i really dont know lol

It just sucks, like, we are already gettin screwed over so much from companies etc, then some ppl went out of their way to hurt us even more, pre order just 10 of whatever.... like ok, maybe get 2 if you got the chance and sell one, but come on...
Imo ebay etc should ban such sales, at least for a year, just not allowing to sell suff more then 10-20% over its price...

The supply is limited early on and the demand for it is high so the price is high until more of them floods the market in excess amounts. That's just basic economics. If there's no shortage and people want to sell the orchestrion rolls where supply greatly exceeds demand, then prices will plummet. It's currently a luxury good exactly because it's new and there isn't much on the market, but a lot of people want it asap and is willing to fork over a large amount for it.

If you don't want to pay for the orchestrion roll and don't think the effort to obtain one justifies the cost at this point in time, just go farm it yourself because it'd be a more cost-effective ratio to you. Otherwise, just wait until prices drop after everyone obtains one and the supply is greater than the demand.

Do that to orchestration rolls then its going to be at that range for the rest of this game's life.
Gil inflation is a real phenomenon and if your money-making methods can't keep up with it, then you're not gonna be affording much in the future, either.

Like the minimum wage, the price for a given amount of work has gone up. Them's the breaks. Adapt or perish.

Week 1 prices for items are always ludicrously overinflated, it's always been like this because there's an initial lack of supply.

However, I won't begrudge that some Orchestrion Rolls (especially those from the 8-person raids) have no business being as expensive as they are. The likes of Return to Oblivion (which was recently memed on in an in-game questline for being overpriced) and Twice Stricken should both be significantly cheaper than they currently are, even if not rock-bottom.
Return to Oblivion is expensive because the drop rate isn't good, it's utterly inconvenient to target farm, and lots of people want it after hearing it. It will never be cheaper until one of those changes, and that's unlikely to happen any time soon because it's also not a solo-friendly fight for future unsync farming.

Had to leave before I could reply to this earlier in my other post.

Prices keep getting higher because there's more and more gil entering the game economy while SE is doing a poor job of removing most of it through gil sinks and limiting just how much gil one player can have.

When the largest single purchase in the game is 50 million gil, it makes little sense to have the gil cap at 999,999,999. That's several hundred million gil that the player has no use for other than to buy items from other players at the same time the player continues to earn more. Those other players are now boosted toward having 999,999,999 themselves.

It doesn't help that SE effectively encourages players to purchase multiple houses to run sub farms to get Salvaged Accessories/Extravagant Salvaged Accessories by not being stricter with the per account house limits. I could invest 10 million gil into buying a FC house, purchasing the workshop and some materials to build sub parts and in 6 months have made that 10 million back with a weekly profit of 1.5-2million gil easily rolling in (more on weeks with good RNG).

If you want to see prices go down, SE needs to make some changes to how new gil is generated and what players can do with their excess wealth to remove it from the game economy.

    Personally, I would:
    • Lower gil cap to 100 million per character (including what is stored on retainers), which would eventually lower prices on the market board and make a new player's small amount of gil more valuable.
    • Reduce value of Salvaged Accessories/Extravagant Salvaged Accessories to 95% of current value if not remove them from the game entirely to reduce interest in setting up sub farms (though I know some would still remain).
    • Create a Wealth Leaderboard

Why a Wealth Leaderboard? Being a MMORPG, there are players who like to compete against each other to see who can make the most gil or even just see how much they can earn to satisfy personal curiosity.

How would it work? Characters would be able to buy Eorzean Bank Notes (or some similar title/concept) for 5 million gil each. These act as a gil sink to remove the gil permanently from the game economy. They would be made available one patch cycle prior to the gil cap being reduced so players would have a reasonable opportunity to convert their excess gil to the Bank Notes.

The value of Bank Notes acquired by the character would be tracked in the Currency window and on the Leaderboards (can be adapted from the Skybuilder point rankings during Ishgard Restoration). They could potentially be traded between characters during the patch they were purchased (allowing players to accumulate all Bank Notes on a single character with the help of a friend) but could not be sold or used to make purchases on the market board. Bank Notes traded to other players would reduce the character's total for that patch while increasing the other players' totals.

The Leaderboard could track standings in a variety of ways - by world, logical data center, region, world-wide, and by patch earnings, expansion earnings, and all time. Characters on banned accounts would be removed from the rankings.

For fun and immersion, wealthy NPCs like Lolorito could be inserted into the standings with achievements earned by characters ranking above the NPCs.

It's just a rough idea and I don't know how it would play out in practice. But if players are feeling like prices are getting out of control on the market board, and especially if new players feel like they're at too much of a disadvantage in getting things that would help them as they level, then something needs to be done by SE.

The prices are only that high because there are some people who are willing to pay it. After time, prices will fall to meet demand. Until that time, prices will stay high.

You're forgetting a key difference: in a video game you can get the "scalped" item yourself. So if you don't want to pay those insane prices, just farm whatever content it drops from. Can't do that in real life when they run out of PS5s.

If you are referring to the alliance raid music; it will go down really cheap over time. Its just the new thing and not as many players have it right now.

Loosely related but I kind of wish the rewards from the alliance raids weren't marketable to be honest, getting some of the rewards like orchestrions and the nier hairstyles is a pain since 24 people roll need every run even if they already have it and have no real need for it.

No key difference forgotten. Pretty sure what you just said falls under playing the game.

There need to be predetermined prices for each item on the marketboard to prevent the no-lifing elitists from manipulating it. Casual players like myself don't stand a chance when resentful day one players with too much gil sit there manipulating prices upwards for their own amusement.
