Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

Here is a screen grab of both shots of the mystery legs. Using a link instead of an embed in case anyone wants to be surprised when they see it themselves.

My thoughts:

- Is it a Hrothgal?

If you look at the right foot on the right image you can see what appears to be fur right under the sandal leather above the heel area. Between that and the secrecy around their appearance, it seems likely this is indeed a female Hrothgar. I'm sure they didn't show the tail to leave room for speculation, or perhaps that wasn't even the actual full model.

I was fairly confident the mystery female voice in the Dawntrail trailer was a Hrothgal but I had assumed the devs wouldn't go through the effort of making a low rez model for only one patch. I guess that teaches me to underestimate the devs.

- "They're... NOT SWOLE?! "

I think this remains to be seen for a few reasons.

1. The angle and distance from the camera isn't doing the model any favors.

2. If you look at the left leg there is visible muscle definition which is consistent with the more buff race options like Roe/Highlander/Hroth.

3. If male Hrothgar are a hunched over male Roegadyn it would make sense that female Hrothgar are based on Femroes, and I think everyone is picturing femroes much more stocky than they actually are. The Hrothgal leg in those screenshots is completely consistent with femroe leg proportions.



That being said they could also lean more toward female Highlanders in overall size which again have those same proportions and still look plenty jacked. I will be as disappointed as anyone if they turn out to be dainty but given what we have to go on so far I think it's reasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully I don't live to regret that statement! lol


In any case, this is all my best guess from the information available and we'll know for sure soon enough. Unfortunately with this new information I think it is unlikely the reveal will be at EU fanfest. JP fanfest is January 7-8 and 6.5 Part 2 is shortly after that in mid-January. It would be odd to tease the reveal now only to show it off anyway in a couple weeks and then wait three months for it to appear in game. Seems like it would make more sense to reveal them at the JP fanfest where it's only a week or two later until she pops up in the game.

Of course I would love to be wrong and see them sooner but either way, they are 100% coming in 7.0 and we'll see the full reveal in January at the latest. Looking forward to it!

Just been over on the reddit forums and there are more pics and also you can see the fur. On discord datamine they say the model is a female hrothgar.

I don't know how they did it but someone posted better/more shots of the legs (which hilariously is just a pair of legs with no torso) from different angles and it definitely looks like they used the Femroe model as a base *on closer look the wide stance actually looks more like Highlander than Femroe, they look to be quite tall and there's visible fur texture on the thighs, abs, and what looks like a tail hole in the model.

They probably knew people would do this so they removed the rest of the body to hide it I'm also very curious how the rest of the model looks, especially their faces.

This is amazing, finally, after so many years we have something! Even if it is just a feet shot. I cannot contain my happyness. When I saw it I squealed with happiness! I could not sleep last night until 6 a.m from all the excitement.
With this tease and the lore book coming in december + the small patch added after the EU fan fest. I have a high hunch that they will reveal it in a few days!
Even if not, I am so content with what we got, that you will not hear me complaining!

If I was in charge of doing it, I'd be 50/50 on removing the upper part of the model entirely and leaving it blank, or replacing it with something really ridiculous and fake.

(It's not a Hrothgar, it's three moogles in a trenchcoat!)
