    Yea, I remember that (the exploratory zone), though I am betting we would need to wait till patch content, so... I don't know.. 18+ (more??) months away? The V/C stuff, I just don't think that's long term engaging content. To me, it's just dungeon runs, that you do a few times. Once you have what you want, which could be just 12 runs to get the mount, there's just feels like no longevity or reason to go back. Even releasing multiple, there's just no reason to re-do the prior ones. And, so far, there's nothing linking them together in an over-arching way. There's nothing for crafters/gatherers (its not like you need either to do IS).
    For me, I just wish they had made Garlemald an exploratory zone and given us a Diadem 2.0 (somewhere new). Why is the Garlemald restoration happening off screen? And I don't think it's valid to say, well, its not like they had Firmament for HW. No, but EW isn't their 1st expansion either.

    ARR and HW were both very barebones in terms of their offerings, and neither would satisfy the current playerbase. HW's big innovation was Deep Dungeons, and the rest was just the standard dungeon/trial/raid format.

    Players always complain about grinds, but they also want ways to differentiate themselves from others. There's no drop off in the amount of midcore raid content available (if anything, there's a greater variety in this than previous expansions), but if you're the sort of person who exclusively sticks to story mode content, there's nothing in this game to reward you for loitering in game for hours.

    If players are unable to differentiate themselves on the basis of challenges, they have to differentiate themselves on time invested, which is why there's suddenly an overwhelming demand on this subforum to bring the grinds back. Rather than trying to entice them into raid content that they're not interested in by progressively simplifying gameplay for everyone else, the devs are better off just letting them grind fates and congratulating them with relics that help them feel more accomplished for their time investment.

    I don't disagree at all with your points, though I think the beginning of a new expansion is when you need a new bozja style area the least as that is when you are most likely going to be leveling all of the classes and trying out the new classes. I am in the bandwagon of SE needing to give variant/criterions a purpose outside of do it once for the story/mount and it would have been a great place to tie the relic into. Crafters and Gatherers would be nice to have a new restoration and diadem zone to give them something to do, but at the same time it's not something I think about too much as they are just my jobs I do enough on to make gear or make a little money on the side. I never really got too deep on diadem and Ishgard.

    For ARR everything was new, you had all of the jobs to try out and level which took a bit longer back in the day to do and there were a lot of level cap dungeons to explore compared to what we get nowadays. HW also had original diadem which I can't really comment on other than it existing since I was on a break then.

    Yea, still. It's a long time to wait, for some actual... i don't know.. MMO activity, without it being solo or the usual dungeon/trial/raid stuff. and that's still not a definite on the exploratory zone. My single biggest gripe is just the direction - the solo stuff and the super casualization of regular content, the inbalance in ilvl sync (being way to generous). Well, that and communication (hello, Yoshi, what are your plans to help Materia?? we do exist, you gave us a DC, but just left us isolated)

    I am with you on the critique to making the MMO more solo oriented, but that is the path that SE has chosen for FF14 and I really don't see us being able to do anything to change that with all of the resources that have already been spent on changing the leveling experience to accommodate it. We can only hope that they pull the trigger on cross region DC travel as I remember SE saying it is possible but they aren't sure if they want to do it as Materia is struggling, though I don't know how excited I would be if more DCs started congregating on Aether to do things, though part of me doubts to what extent that would even occur.

    Even after EW I am still cautiously optimistic about DT being able to keep me motivated to play with what has been hinted at so far.

    Question for people mostly related to the topic

    A lot of people point to the other big thing EW added besides C/V is EO, do you feel like EO was a worthwhile addition that made EW better or just kinda a waste of space because I don’t really have a good pulse on the community’s perception of EO

    I personally think that if their idea of new deep is just reskinning the old ones at the current level cap it isn’t really worth it, I know I talk about field content a lot but it’s my favourite content so I know the most about it. I think it’s hard to deny that field content has a smooth progression over the years from diadem 1.0 to diadem 2.0 to eureka to Bozja (I know some of the Bozjan Changes were unpopular with some of the eureka crowd but I think overall most agree it was an improvement). I don’t feel any progression on deep dungeons, if EO capped at level 60 I’d probably just go “I haven’t seen this floor set from POTD before”, I guess you could say that every dungeon is fundamentally the same but when it comes to optional endgame grind content are deep dungeons really doing anything
