Okay. I was talking more about dropped items than multiple meld materia... which by the way is also still largely luck based with pretty poor odds. All darklight gear is not the best in the game in fact many pieces are complete ass and i wouldnt wear them even if i could gear swap. the Entire mage set is junk no self respecting whm or blm would dare wear that crap over the better easier to obtain double/tripple melds or even af pieces tbh.
The Darklight Gloves are not bad for mages. Too bad they look so out of place on a White Mage.
There are actually plenty of drops for clearing and even some drops along the way. People who want Darklight gear are just going for a very specific, very rare set of equipment. And no sane person would think its cool and enjoyable to do dozens of runs and get no drop what so ever.
Sure it's frustrating to do it so many times and not get what you want.
But no one is forcing you to do it.
Do it if you think it's fun and/or worthwhile. Otherwise stop.
On the bright side you would never notice the performance increase with it on and could probably beat the content in your level one gear
Sure. That's the way the free market works.
You have the right to vote with your wallet.
If you think this game is boring then you don't have to pay to play.
I also think the drop rate on a lot of these items is abysmally low. I would like to have some of the Darklight items also. But I understand that they are exceptionally rare and there is luck involved in getting them, so I don't expect that I should be rewarded after fighting through CC or AV any set number of times.
To reiterate what Asiaine said:
"Is this an activity (raid) that I have fun doing? If so, do it. If not, go do something else.
The reward you get at the end of the day should be just that... a reward (not payment)."
yes and in the free market the sellers cater to the buyers..
you cant seem to grasp the concept that it is in SE's interest to make a fun and exciting non-repetitive video game.. as rediculous as that sounds... >.>
Increase the time between re-entry. Up the % drop.
At the risk of being Ms. Pendantic:
It is in SE's interest to make gil ^.^;
Please keep in mind the following key things:
1) What one person considers fun may not be considered fun by an other. So SE has to decide whose fun should be addressed.
2) What one person wants NOW may actually be decremental to SE in the long run, so SE has to balance instant gratification versus long time satisfaction.
For example:
Getting all DL gear right away may make a group of people happy. Then they will go away for a few months until new content appears. If this repeats, after a year this group of people may just loose interest in staying. This does not benefit SE.
Getting all DL gear slowly may make a group of people unhappy. They will post their unhappyness on the lodestone, and a portion of those may go away.
SE then must make a decision:
How many players will leave if things are easy, and how many will leave if it is hard. If it turns out that 0.1% of the population will leave if DL gear is incredibly hard to get, but 5% of the population would leave if DL gear is easy to get, SE will choose to forfit the 0.1% of the population.
(Keep in mind as well, there is no known formula that will work to keep EVERYONE happy... if you do find it, then please let the world know ^.^)
i can get along with this but somewhat half-heartedly..
another example might be.
have items that need to be aquired to pop an NM. - so for example each of the 3 raids could drop an item (which itself could be 25% drop rate) and then all 3 can be combined to pop an nm which has a decent drop rate (25%+) for the gear/item
im sure you would agree it would still take us some time to get drops but we would allways feel like we were getting somewhere.. it isnt something anyone can complain about (even me :P)
You mean like Sea/Sky from XI? I can get along with those, but I don't think such content which requires a lot of thought and development will be here pre 2.0. I think to be quite honest this content is to keep people occupied until 2.0 - at which point I HOPE we will get more imaginative and interesting dungeons etci can get along with this but somewhat half-heartedly..
