S.E. only weird decision to me is FFXIV has been their bread and butter bringing in the cash despite many...and i mean MANY failures of other titles

Please take a moment and peruse the financial statements of SE before making ridiculous assumptions about where the 'bread and butter' of the company lies. The MMORPG portion of Digital Entertainment is about 18% of the 62.3 billion yen in net sales [FY2024 Q1]. The Amusement sector made more money in sales (yeah, merchandising and arcades, go figure) than all of the MMORPGs SE makes.

As for investing in other properties, it's what gaming companies do.
